We are traveling with my parents plus my sister's family this summer. My 6 year old son will be sleeping with my parents since we are in cat. 6 (4 person) rooms (we have 2 other kids). We connect with my parents' room.
I am ASSUMING we won't have to fill out those documents for "traveling with non-custodial parent" since we are in the next room! But you know what you do when you assume! Has anyone ever faced this situation? Should I fill those papers out anyhow?

I would call DCL about this, but my assumption would be yes. He is "technically" not staying in your cabin. Always best to double check, and then fill out the form anyway just to be sure.

If your reservations are 'linked' I would think that you will have no problem.

i.e. - my husb & I have a cabin on the same deck but at the other end of the ship as my mom & son. We made the reservations (at separate times) for them & our reserv. are linked. We don't have to fill out the papers for our son.

We didn't have to fill out any paper work either. My dh & I stayed in a CAT 11 with one dd. The other dd stayed across the hall in a Cat 6 with my parents. All went smothly at check in and we didn't fill anything out!

:teeth:

The past two posters are correct: If you're going on the cruise with your son, then he's not travelling without a custodial parent. It doesn't matter where he sleeps! We had my niece in our cabin on our cruise, and had no paperwork problems since her parents were in the cabin next door...

Our experience was similar, DD was in my in laws cabin though she actually slept with us. (Her two year old brother just slept in between mommy and daddy in the bed.) The only thing was that they did have my MIL carry DDs birth certificate with her documents.

We had our uncles daughter in our room and her parents were in the room next door. Did not have to fill out the extra docs and she even stayed in their room. They had a baby and 2 dds so they all fit with the portacrib. The stateroom person did not care and said nothing about it to us or to them. We all had the same lifeboat station.
