I truly feel like an idiot asking this, but I can't help myself.

We are planning on putting some plastic bottles of juice in our checked luggage...will it explode from not being pressurized??

No, there should not be a risk of explosion. There's always a risk of leakage, however, so be certain to put any liquids in sealed zip lock bags.

I already have them in bags, so we should be okay.

You can never be too careful. Would you be willing to put the bags in bags (you can use them for dirty laundry on the way home)? The problem with leaks is, they can easily affect more than just your luggage.

Kaytie posted that knowing that I would come along behind her and tell once again how I have had at least two suitcases and their contents ruined by other people's liquids in their checked luggage.

You may not mind if you liquids leak, but I DO! Please please pack them appropriately. (United actually has very strict rules on how wine must be packed in checked luggage, and I hope that other airlines implement such rules)

Lufthansa recently sent me a cheque for 100 Euros after a mysterious sweet sticky substance soaked my suitcase and penetrated ALL my clothing that I had packed for a month. They were certainly not at fault, but offered it up without asking.
