I have a carpet shampooer (see Walmart thread ;) ) and something seems strange to me. There is only one water container so the dirty water goes back into the clean water. When I'm shampooing, does that mean that I'm essentially using dirty water after a few passes? Come to think of it, I don't recall seeing any machines with 2 containers when I was researching them a few months ago

I have one and it has 2 containers, one for clean water and one for dirty. I think it's a Hoover. It does sound like you would be cleaning with dirty water though with only one container!

I have a carpet cleaner. The clean water and dirty water are stored in the same container. Here is how it works on mine. The hard plastic container has a soft plastic bladder inside. This is where the clean water goes (you add the water to the bladder via a hole in the top of the holder). As you lose clean water, the hard plastic container catches the dirty water, so as the bladder empties, the hard plastic container fills. Understand?

Thanks... you must have the same one I do (Bissell Proheat??). I didn't realize there was enough room for it to go into the casing around the "bladder" but that makes sense.

I feel better :thumbsup2
