Help please. My dd is a very picky eater. We have almost canx this cruise 2x because we are so concerned. but then we heard that they are willing to work with you when it come to childs food. But i was just looking thru the menus and i do not see PB&J anywhere. My dd only eats the uncustables peanutbutter and strawberry jelly ones. Please if some knows if this is available on ship anywhere please let me know. That is all she eats and they have to stay frozen so I can't bring the uncrustables on with to the ship. she is only 3 and I think she will have a great time and long as i can feed her something during the trip. thank you for your help.:sad2:

You're in luck -- uncrustables are available thru room service but I can't remember if they were grape or strawberry (betcha your dining room servers would get them for you for dinner too).

Eh, kids are like dogs...if they get hungry enough they'll eat what's in front of them and they won't starve to death no matter what you think! :rotfl:

Quit spoilin' the kid and let her learn to eat whatcha got!!! :confused3

On our first cruise my son asked our wait staff if he could have uncrustables they brought them to the dining room for him every night they had both flavors hope that helps.:thumbsup2

I know I ordered pb&j from room service on the ship a few nights, but DH and I can't remember if they were uncrustables or not. I know I had grape jelly on mine, i remember that.

Agreed!

My son is also a very prickey eater and he is14 and loves pb&j. On our cruise last year, we told the waiter and he order it from room service and it was there for every meal. Now I know that he only likes grape jelly so I am thinking that it was grape. Deanna

I am sure that DCL will work with you. I also do not believe in forcing a child to eat food they do not like but only PB&J is not healthy in any form. Have you consulted the family doctor to determine how long this can go on before you may be faced with other health concerns. I agree that she should be encouaged to eat other foods and you might use the PB&J as the reward. One bite of everything on her plate then she can finish with the PB&J. I also wonder if you may be looking at a child that has Autism. They tend to be very picky with the food sometimes to the extreme. Again a reason to work with your family doctor. What ever you decide go have a great cruise. DCL is AWESOME!!!!!

That is not really true. It depends on the kid. My DS has sensory integration disorder and he will definately not eat if he doesn't like the way something looks. We did a trial and he went 3 days without eating. He drank liquids only. So be carefull judging others unless you know their cirumstances.

They do microwave them to defrost them though, so make sure you ask for room service to have them left frozen.

Thanks for asking this question. My DD2 is not that picky but she will not eat meat. So it is nice to know I can get some of the uncrustables to store in the fridge so she can get some protein from the PB on the cruise.

And thanks for the tip about asking for them frozen, I never would have thought they microwaved them since it says right on the wrapper NOT to do that.

I know! I think it's wierd that they microwave them also:confused3

Last year- I asked for Peanut Butter at the Buffet during breakfast and they will give you a cup of it kind of like the jelly packets. Sometimes toast even the morning it good with PB. I asked for a bunch of packets and used them to make PB&J with the morning toast and took it off the ship for my daughter as she hates the uncrustables. This was great to give lunch off of the ship- Brink baggies- they work aswesome for snacks!

Hope this tip helps.

Please do not judge before you have all the facts. My DD is sick. She has a problem with her white blood cells. She get blood drawn weekly sometimes daily if she need to be hospitatized. We are very informed about her condition. She is underweight for her age and size. Her condition makes her weak and have little to no appetite. We see many Docs they tell us about her eating to just let her eat whatever she wants whenever she wants it. She is not a spoiled child she just does not feel well. When she does feel well she is a normal and happy child. But it sad to report that those days are getting few and far between. So please do not judge. We have a son who is a normal healthy child who will eat anything and everthing but sometimes some child are special not spoiled. Thank You

 I hope your DD feels well for the cruise. Enjoy!

I just wanted to send a happy thought to the person who wrote the original post.

Both my kids were incredibly picky about food. They were very well behaved and if we said they had to eat something, we would follow through and make sure they did as a matter of obedience. However, it stressed my little boy out so much that he would throw up about 15 minutes later. As a parenting philosophy, I'm a big believer that if I ask my kids to do something, they need to do it and I need to follow through. We decided it wasn't worth that battle at meal time and chose instead to focus on family time.

We did get a lot of looks (and some comments) from people who thought we were doing the wrong thing. However, the kids are both a little older now (8 and 9) and they have started expanding their food tastes. They are still "picky" but they're in the normal zone of picky now and eat a fairly wide variety of food. I still don't understand why they had such problems with foods but this is one of the issues that has gotten better over time. (As a parent, you have to love that kind of issue...)

All you need to do is ask. It also helps if you talk to your head server and explain what you'd like. In fact, send a fax to DCL main office with all your information and I wouldn't be surprised if they already had everything set for you.

But yes, the amount of food available is enormous, so I wouldn't worry. Something will catch their attention. And it's all good!

Mine is the same way. I remember when I was younger and I was forced to eat foods that I despised. Not foods that I never tried, but things that I knew were horrible. I decided that if my daughter TRIES something, then that is good by me. By doing this, she has expanded her likes, but I dont think she is spoiled because I force her to eat foods that she doesnt like.

Then when you throw in medical conditions, that is not spoiling. That is being a good parent.

If you had just posted the second one 1st people wouldnt have been so flippent with you. But you said she was fussy no mention of her being sick and people responded accordingly.

Hope you have a good cruise.:dance3:

The OP was posting a legitimate question and it was about the availablity of PB&J sandwiches not parenting advice. She should not have had to reveal personal information about her daughter's illness to get a proper response. People are too quick to judge others.

OP, I'm sorry to hear the difficulties with your daughter. Glad that a little thing like having uncrustables may make it possible for the family to enjoy a great cruise vacation. Enjoy!
