Stupid Newbie Question

How do you keep track of your points? We bought a resale and the previous owner had banked all his points for the year, so for our December trip, we had to borrow points from the next year, but not all of them. So I have 39 points left from the current year and 150 from last year that were banked. I don't even know what I can do with it..but would just like to figure out an easy way to keep track of it. (i'm assuming that for our November trip, I can take 189 points and use them for a one bedroom villa for six nights) Anyone have an easy way to track points.. I'm betting this is a topic that has been discussed before but I couldnt' find it when doing a search...

The banked points have to used in the use year they were banked into. They can not be rebanked. Your ressie should have been made with banked points first. Call MS and make sure that is what was done. If that is the case, you might have more points to bank.

The banked points couldn't be used because they were in the current year -- they had been banked just b4 we bought it. So in order to travel in that year, we had to use borrowed points and now our next reservation we have to use the banked points. but now can you see why a newbie needs some tips on how to keep up on all this?
