I just want to know what people think the dumbest mistake was to Disneyland?

For me it would have to be taking out Country Bears to put in Winnie the pooh

I loved Country Bear and I love Pooh that is a hard one. The submarine but I have not been on Nemo. Hummmmm

DH would say America Sings! To quote him since I have never seen it ... "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow!" He always points out the characters from AS that are now hanging out with the Splash Mtn folks :upsidedow

Come to think of it the Country Bears are on his list of "things he misses" too. Although he will get to see them again when we go to WDW this fall :goodvibes

Getting rid of the skyway was probably the stupidest thing to me. That was SO much fun and it was such a peaceful ride and you could see almost the whole park.

Skyway get's a 2nd vote here. Too much money to retrofit? Please, look at the revenue they're bringing in...

I agree re SkyWay. I liked the Country Bears a lot, and definitely miss them, but we love Pooh, too, so that'd be a hard one for me.

Mine's technically a two-fer, but they're related:

1. Closing the PeopleMover and
2. Moving the Astro Orbiter to the entrance of Tomorrowland

The derelict PeopleMover track is a sad reminder of better days, and the Astro Orbiter just gets in everybody's way. Creating the useless Observatron, which does nothing but draw attention to both the unused PeopleMover platform and the old Astro Orbiter location, just adds insult to injury.

Probably:
-putting MAoWtP in w/ FP machines expecting huge crowds and having it end up that the ride never has a line longer than 15 minutes during peak seasons

-creating a "cool, new twist on the Peoplemover" (Rocket Rods) and not being able to maintain it

-Putting in new scenery in Tarzan's Treehouse, making it unsafe and having it sit there dormant

-Putting in FP machines for MAoWtP, Pirates, and Star Tours

-closing Fort Wilderness on TSI (although rumors say it'll reopen w/ Pirate's Lair)

-creating Snow White's Scary Adventures with an unknown audience target (too cheesy for adults, too scary for kids, too childish for teens)

-moving the "Astro-Jets" down to the ground where the ride experience is the same as Dumbo

I really like the Bear County Jambore too. Don't like the Pooh ride too much.

Losing the People Mover. Not only was it a fun relaxing ride to get a birds eye view of Tomorrow (yester?)land, but it was a great people eater :)

Must also agree the moving of Astro Orbiter- it crowds the entrance to Tomorrow Land and loses it's luster being down on the ground and not way up high

I so TOTALLY agree !

Im gonna agree with the Snow White thing, I think its definately too scary for kids and kinda boring for adults. It would be more appealing I think if they didnt add the witch popping out every 30 seconds unexpectedly. Im a bit creeped out on that ride and im 24 years old. I think it would be much more fun and adventurous if somethings were added like travelling adventure through the "Dwarf mines, and forest to the dwarfs house to find the Dwarfs and finding Snow White sleeping and then have them all singing the wash song or the silly song, add in a bit about the witch and the apple and then end it off with the prince carrying Snow white away"

I dont like how they named it "Snow Whites Scary adventures". We could say the same thing about Pinocchio. The poor little guy got kidnapped and his dad was eaten by a whale

Country Bears for sure. I like Pooh but I can think of several other things that could have been taken out for Pooh (like Snow White).

America Sings would be next, I so loved that ride.

People Mover comes in 3rd for me.

I have to agree with Country Bears and putting in Rocket Rods and not being able to maintain them. Although I can see the Country Bears in WDW I miss seeing the Country Bears Vacation Hoedown. Florida just does the original CBJ and the Xmas show (which they didn't even do last year). I also liked America Sings but it was a little out of place in Tomorrowland.

1. Getting rid of the Skyway & the Peoplemover
2. Putting Astro Orbiter right at the entrance to Tomorrowland

Big mistakes, IMHO. :teeth:

If I may...

Main Street still has that quaint entering-the-park feeling that I so enjoy.

Adventureland completely immerses me in the realm of Bazaars and Indiana Jones. The foliage makes me feel like I'm in another land.

Frontierland is nice and westerny, and I only just appreciated the shops and eateries in my last trip.

Critter Country is just... Critter Country. It consists of Splash Mountain and Pooh, and that's about all. Right now, it's just Pooh (until May). But the landmark of Splash Mountain makes it all worthwhile and beautiful.

New Orleans Square. You can't talk smack about NOS. It is absolutely gorgeous. Best shopping/food in the Park, and it has Pirates (and HM). If I was forced to live in a Land, I'd choose here.

Tomorrowland. Doesn't compare. I enter it and I just feel rotten (it's quite trashy, as if they tried to create a theme, but it just doesn't work). And it takes quite a lot to go ALL THE WAY into Tomorrowland and get a FP for Space Mountain. All the other lands are manageable, but Tomorrowland is just excessively long. And there are plenty of things that are totally not needed. As said before with Rocket Rods, those tracks serve as a reminder that something went totally wrong with the designs of this land. Moving Astro-Orbiter creates a major problem with those trying to get into the Land (and it also pushes Buzz's extra line into Ariel's Grotto, bad form!). And both Honey I shrunk the Kids and Star Tours NEED to be updated. They just feel out of date. I know GL wanted to desperately do another film for ST, but I'm not sure how that ended up. But that ride needs a Refurb, and fast! And as for Honey, they need to do something else. Perhaps something... DISNEY? How about make a 3D Buzz Lightyear adventure? Him fighting Zurg or SOMETHING. No one GOES to that show anymore...

Country Bears def. I went on and on on our last trip when I realized they were gone. Replaced by another bear. A cryin chame.

But I liked Rocket Rods.

First trip in 10 years, just got back: headache: , I think one dumb thing was to put the FP outside each ride, had to walk across park, FP and go back across to find a ride that we could go on while waiting for FP time to come up to ride it.

A row of FP at the middle or enterance to each park would allow riders to choose which ride and not waste precise foot work getting to each FP machine.

Shade would be my second thing to grip about, especially shade to sit and rest.

Blister bandages sold at DL would have been a hot seller. Ever notice how people walk at the end of the day? Like ducks shuffling along!

On a positive note, love the lockers! Great locations and easy to use!
