I missed my 100% banking deadline - DUH!!!

Now I have 37 points that can't be banked and will expire at the end of July.

We don't have a trip planned, so I can't just add on a night or upgrade or anything.

What would you do with 37 extra points?

not that far of a drive to hilton head see if you can stay during the week for a few days just not to loose your points. Or as mentioned rent them. Good luck.

Do you have any relatives that have the flexibility in their schedule to shoot down for a Sunday to Friday trip to one of the studios. You'd make someone very very happy.

Are you sure your stuck. Call MS. after 6 months, can book up to 100 percent, then 50 percent, then 25 percent of your total points.....

So maybe even though you've missed one deadline, you haven't missed them all?

I'd double check..... Goldi

You could maybe rent them?

TO ME!!!! For a 3-day stay at Vero in an Inn- room in July??????!!!!!!

I like everyone's suggestions, but the giving someone a little weeknight trip sounds like a GREAT solution! (if you cannot bank, etc or use them yourself as suggested).

We bought our points to share (since our children are little right now and a studio is fine for us), and we have already planned two trips for others! Its a great feeling!

The Conceirge collection has several hotels in Vermont and NY at or under 36 points per night. maybe make a weekend getaway and pay for only one night (or a half).

I think there is some organization that will accept points as a charity donation.

You don't get to call it a deduction off your taxes. but someone would get some good out of your points.

Why aren't you going back - between now and July is a long time..... (okay my opinion - your can vary)

I'm a new member and recently received the New Member Handbook. On pg. 12 of the book it gives the time frames for banking. I'm assuming since your points will expire at the end of July that you have an August Use Year. This is what the book says for an August Use Year:

Bank 100% by January 31
Bank 50% by April 30
Bank 25% by May 31
0% - June 1-July 31

So assuming you have 150 points total...you would be able to bank all 150pts by January 31; bank 75 points by April 30; and 37 by May 31.

So, you still have time to bank them if you would like too.

Use them yourself for a quick trip. One time we had one point that was going to expire, so we added on another night. Had to borrow points to use that one point.

Early June. OKW Studio. Not that many points. You might even get a few nights out of it.

Only if she hasn't banked 75 points already. If she has banked 75 during the first 6 mos, then she will have used the 50% allotment already. 50% doesn't mean 50% of the original - it means 50% of the original less any you have already banked.

Ok, I think I get it now. Thank you for clearing it up for me. This whole banking thing gets very confusing. :confused3

A DVC newbie still trying to learn. :rotfl:

Thanks, all!! I just knew you would have some great suggestions!

We own 375 points total with an August use year. I had borrowed some for a trip last June and had 254 points left. I just banked 50% (187 points) and am left with 37 points that I must either use or lose by July 31.

I really don't think we can swing a quick trip to WDW, unfortunately. I like the idea of looking at the Concierge collection for hotels closer to home that we could visit, so I think I'll start there. If nothing jumps out at me, the next option will be to transfer them to another member's account, charging a certain amount per point.

I'm off to look at Concierge collection - even the name sounds cool!!

The grief involved in renting 37 points is enormous, and not worth your time.

I would suggest you transfer the points to me for $2.75 a point!

You can pay me by check or money order, and I will accept the transfer of your points from your account to my account.

In the grand scheme of things $101.75 will be a cheap price for a lesson that will prevent you from ever missing a banking deadline again, guarenteed!

Please see my other thread for 37 points I have available to rent for $11.50 each, must be used before August 2005!
