If I download the iTunes software on a computer that has some not so legal music on it, can it in any way get back to the company that I have illegal music on my computer. I think I have watched too many shows about people getting in trouble for having downloaded music illegaly. Also, can I put this music on my iTunes or will it only transfer music off of actual CDs and purchased through them? Sorry if I sound stupid or paranoid, but I just want to make sure. :)

I do not think so.... like 99% sure. ;)

A friend of mine :rolleyes1 did just what you're asking, and nothing happened.
Of course, now he uses iTunes exclusively to get his online music. I, um, he loves it.

I have an um, friend, who has done it, and has had no problems as well.

You can put the "not exactly bought" music into iTunes without a problem.

This is a totally different question - My DD charges her IPOD through the computer and for some reason it runs out of battery after only a couple of hours. If she puts the song "on Hold" while playing it, she can get it to work. Any thoughts?

Also, to answer your original question - I know loads of folks who have done what you are asking

Gee, I have a, um, friend who did this too, not to mention her husband as well. :rolleyes1

diskids2, I never charge mine through the computer. For some reason, I run into problems with the battery every time I've done it, so I always use a direct charge from an electrical outlet. Hopefully someone has an answer for you!

I do this and the feds have not knocked on my door yet. One thing I do to lessen the risk (I hope) is that I do not "share" music with others. I would like to get rid of limewire but I'm afraid all of those songs would disappear--anyone know if they would? I have them in other files on my hard drive plus on itunes. I need to know if I need to back them all up on CDs before I delete limewire, just in case.
