Stupid Government cancels Eco Energy Grant

I am really ticked at our stupid government right now. Generally I am apathetic because they are all just such a bunch of useless money wasters, but in this case it has impacted me in a very direct way. We were planning on getting an eco energy audit in the next little while because we have significant renos on the house and also are looking to install a geo thermal system. But, with NO warning, the gov't has now decided that anyone who does not already have their audit booked is out of luck and cannot utilize the grants (which are good until next March). So, we are SOL. Stupid government!!!!!

Absolutely agree with you. We are pretty much in the same boat. As a result, we will do other renovations first, and only then look at the big ticket energy saving stuff.

We always seem to miss the boat.

In the past few years we had brickwork done, new roof and some other things.

After everything was completed, the gov't came out with their home reno grant.

I never seem to have the money at the right time!!!!!

Us TOO! We did manage to cash in on the HRTC this year, did our roof, our bathroom & replaced 6 windows, to the tune of $7700.

I was just looking at the Eco Energy grant on Tuesday, good to know they cancelled it because we were thinking about doing it!

I was surprised to hear they cancelled this program. We did it and just had our final evaluation. It made a huge difference. I don't know if we would have invested the money without the grants beacuse there are so many more visible renovations to spend the cash on.

I will say that we probably saved abot 400-600 this year on heating and electricity compared to last winter.

Same boat here, we have put in a new furnace and just had insulation added to the walls of the house. Stupid Stupid goverment. People buy older homes and want to actually not put every penny into heating them...
