Stupid DDP question, re: appetizers

I feel stupid for asking this because it seems simple, but I can't find the answer anywhere.

It is my understanding that you can ask your server to use your TS credit for an appetizer and an entrée, rather than an entrée and a dessert, and most of the time the server will accommodate you, correct?

So, here's the stupid question - if you want both, and can just pay out-of-pocket for the appetizer and use the DDP for the entrée/dessert, or is it all-or-nothing (i.e. you can't buy any extras if using the DDP)?

Your question is not stupid. The DDP includes an entrée, a dessert and a beverage. You cannot substitute an appetizer for your dessert. You can however order any additional items that you want and will pay oop for those items.

In the past they used to be a lot more flexible and allow that substation. I've read that do not allow anymore, but it doesn't hurt to ask your server. I'd just expect a no. As previous poster mentioned you can buy anything additional you like out of pocket

This is my biggest turn-off regarding the DDP. I don't want a dessert per person dining at every table service meal!
But I would gladly trade 2 desserts for 1 appetizer.

During my last trip a few weeks ago using the DDP, I did choose and pay for an appetizer several times. I agree that we should have choice to use the dessert credit for an appetizer instead. Disney should also consider adding some additional dessert choices that are not so caloric, such as fruit plate or a cheese plate.
