This might be a weird question and if it's a not-allowed-topic, don't hesitate to take it off, but...

My mom has Parkinsons and takes regular medication for it which helps, a bit, but she has great experiences with Cannabis oil and uses it on a daily base. It keeps the shakes and the irrational fears under control. Which is great for her and during a Disney World trip with my kids (and hopefully her as well) going in all sorts of "scary" rides almost a necessity. Here in the Netherlands you can buy it at any regular drugstore (no pun intended) but do any of you guys know if it's even allowed in the US?

Thanks again,
Chax

It varies from state to state, and the law doesn't necessarily differentiate between various incarnations or active ingredients. The likelihood of you being able to bring it in are slim, but I would look up Florida drug laws specifically and if you can buy it there. Coming from Canada it's a little different, but everyone here knows not to bring any sort of cannabis product, medicinal or otherwise over the American border. Even if the state itself allows it, the border crossing falls under federal jurisdiction. It's possible Florida is one of the States that has decriminalized it and you might be able to buy it there.

I think it will be very doubtful that your mother will be able to use her medicinal MJ in any form. The secure areas of the airport are under federal control, and the US federal government does not differentiate between medical and recreational marijuana. So she will not be able to bring it into the US. It is unlikely she will be able to obtain a medical Marijuana card as a transit visitor. Perhaps her Dutch doctor can offer alternative (legal in the USA) medication?

It depends on the type of oil as well. Last year we were living in Texas and the neurologist put my DD on CBD (Charlottes Web). We flew to WDW and carried the CBD,along with all her other seizure drugs, no problem. This particular oil can be used in all 50 states and ordered online.

This. I absolutely would not bring anything into the US because TSA operates on the federal level. Once in Florida you will be subject to state laws. They do have medical cannabis laws, but purchase without a Floridal Medical Cannabis certificate will be impossible. Rather than suffer this may be a better alternative, and I imagine you could have it shipped ahead to your hotel with the caveat that Disney is private property within the state of Florida so they are entitled to ignore state law on this issue if they choose.

as a private organization Disney does not permit it on premisises.. Florida itself just legalized it medically BUT no one seems to know how to actually..you know.. regulate the sale and distribution.
