Stuff not on Room Service Menu

Can anyone confirm that even if its not on the room service menu (on the Magic) can you still order it for FREE? Thanks

What a fun thread! Normally only the teens order room service heavily, but I am thinking I might enjoy a nice cheese and wine reception before dinner!:thumbsup2

I know this may sound stupid, but is room service free??? Please dont flame.

Hwilensky

Most items are free, but there are a few things you can get from room service that have a charge, such as certain snacks or soda (but soda IS free from the drink stations... just NOT from room service). Welcome to the forum. :)

Thanks for the info, my cruise is leaving a week from thursday, and just trying to get as much information as possible.

I've seen somewhere on the forum about chilled strawberry soup...I think from room service.
Can anyone confirm this? (or anywhere else on the ship)

I know that they had it in Parrot Cay on embarkation day... Not sure if it's still available, or where. Sorry...that wasn't much help, was it. lol

Quick question for Dream cruisers who have used the fridge in the staterooms: how long would the fridges be able to keep a Mickey bar (or two) frozen and intact for later eating. DF and I are VERY excited to indulge in as many Mickey bars as possible throughout our Sept. cruise, but we would prefer to save them in our room as to not spend too much money on room service tips :)

Never been on the dream but the little fridges at WDW resorts if you turn them as high as they go they freeze a bottle of water they would keep a Mickey icecream frozen and everything else.

I know the fridges in the staterooms on the Magic and Wonder definately would NOT keep a mickey bar frozen. At most it keeps things cool but not COLD.

So if I order soft drinks (or any drinks, I imagine) from room service, they are NOT free. If I want free soda/water, I can have it at mealtimes or from the deck 9 snack-bar type area.

I plan to bring my own soda/water on-board (mostly because I'm a diet drinker and I get tired of the same old Diet Coke, water, and unsweetened iced tea). Am I allowed to take my own soda with me to say, the pool?

And how much space is there in the in-cabin fridge? Is it a little tiny cube fridge? Or is it the slightly bigger dorm-type mini-fridge?

Can I get ice whenever I want it? And would I order that from room service too? Or are there ice machines like at the DW hotels?

This is a great thread! Dh and I will most likely order that cheese platter daily, as we are on the late dining seating, and I am diabetic and most def want to avoid a sugar drop on vacay!

The Dream "fridges" are still just cold boxes and not really fridges so doubt they would keep anything frozen. There is not temperature adjustment like in a hotel fridge.

They are more the size of dorm fridges, but not as deep from what I remember.

:thumbsup2 Lovin' this thread! So, for right now, I have learned you can order these that are NOT on the menu:

PB&J's
Grilled Cheese
Mickey Bars
Anything else?

And love all these tips! Going on our first in Oct., so want to be ready! :woohoo:

What's the board consensus - Is a dollar tip for two Mickey Bars adequate? I'd up it to $2 for three or four.
I'm not one to waste money, but I think I'll just get them two at a time (that's one for each of us, not two for me!) so that our indulgences are slightly limited and not melted.
Is the same person assigned to deliver room service to a set of rooms for the same shift through a cruise? If so, I'm wondering if an early slightly larger tip could facilitate prompt delivery for later orders.

But the ones on the Wonder and Magic barely kept things cold, please tell me that the new ones on the Dream do a better job of chilling. I want to bring a bottle with a large opening to mix up some Crystal Light, and like my drinks cold. The Wonder and Magic chillers just barely kept things cool, only a touch cooler than room temperature, in my opinion.

Yes, it keeps it cooler than on the Magic/Wonder, but definately still not a regular fridge. We were able to keep our DD (2) milk cold overnight.

I would say that is adequate. That is what we are doing. Small tip for small orders and larger for larger ones.

Last cruise that I used Room Service three times, I had three different people (and they were all AM deliveries).

Generally, I think of a RS tip as a 'delivery charge' and don't base it on what/how much is being delivered (unless it is more than a tray full), but more as a 'thanks' for making the trip up to my stateroom!

I remember somebody posting once that the wrapped a dollar bill (or two) around a candy bar and the CM LOVED that! ;)

This might seem like overkill but here it goes :) So even if I ordered a couple of Mickey bars and wanted to save one for later on that day, say about 6 hrs, it would have melted in the fridges on the Dream? I have no shame in eating at least two Mickey bars a day while on our trip ;)

Also, would anyone know of any other quick way to grab a Mickey bar while on the Dream? I know they are available at dinner in the dining rooms but perhaps I could visit the Monsters Inc. ice cream location (by the pool?) and grab some instead of bothering room service for it multiple times a day. Is that possible?

Lol I know each of those bars are about 300 calories (yikes!) but I always see Guests eating them at the parks while I'm working and they are so expensive in the parks that when I get a chance to have them for free, I'm willing to pay the price later on at the gym!

Yes, I think it would melt. Nowhere to grab one quickly. Eye Scream has soft serve but no Mickey bars.
