righto..... am now into major planning mode with less than 2 months to go!!!

so, am thinking of spending a bit more time in studios than last visit, and thought about starting one of our days in studios.....

i know it says studios open at 10, but am i right in thinkin thats the rides and the actual park opens earlier?? if so, what sort of time should i look at getting to studios, and are theres lots of characters whilst waiting for the doors to open??

also - the toon train, this just has chip n dale, and clarice on yes?? or r there other characters on it??

and an honest reply pls - do u find more characters in studios and less of a scrum???? ds1 has a list of characters he really wants to see, and he is desperate for donald & daisy - and i heard they are seen alot at studios??

and wud there be enuf to keep us busy in studios from the earliest arrival til about 1pm?? oldest is 5 and youngest hopefully will be over 1.02m when we go...... want to get as much out of studios, without too much waiting (and i really want to go on tot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

any help on the studios wud be appreciated, as i just remember bits, like ppl waitin in studio 1?? for the doors to open at 10am to run to crush, but imagine u can be inside the gates in the courtyard bit before that, but how much earlier???

ooooooooooooooooooooo am gettin all excited now - spent 2 hrs at work startin to plan my itinerary!!!!!!!!!!!

The front gates sometimes open early, at which point they let you through to the end of Studio 1. Occasionally they let you go to the backlot after that, but they rides themselves will not open until 10 as far as I am aware.

There's also Lilo and Stitch

There's a few characters around and some are "doubles" of the ones you see in the main park. The scrums aren't quite so bad in the studios, but they are still a scrum.

That depends on whether you do the shows. If you do the shows, then there's probably a whole day's worth of things to do because you have to plan around the show times

Hi,

On Tuesday this week, we were at the Studios for 9.40am. We got straight through the ticket booths, straight through Studio 1, and the queue for Crush was already snaking all the way past the entrance to Art of Animation :scared1: . There were no characters at the entrance to the studios when we arrived.

We stayed in the Studios until well after 2pm that day, then went back around 5pm, when finally the queue for Crush was under 45 minutes.

We did Stitch Live, Tram Tour, Cars, Flying Carpets, Cinemagique, Animagique. Coaster fiends did RnR in that time too. We didn't do ToT or Crush that morning, but only because I refuse to queue for any ride for longer than 20 minutes. Both rides had much shorter queues after 5pm (and in fact, ToT was a walk-on most of the afternoon).

We also saw the toon train twice, and 2 separate loads of characters, one near Animagique, and one near the entrance to Cinemagique. On our way out of the Studios at 3pm, we saw Donald, Daisy, and Scrooge, and we got their photos and autographs with no trouble at all, and all within 5 minutes.

On the toon train you have Chip n Dale, Lilo and Stitch, and Clarice.

It is generally a lot easier to get pics and autographs in the studios :goodvibes .

I like dthe studios, we spent a full day there, but went on tower of terror lots of times. there was a 3 year old going on tower of terror!

When we went in April they opened the studio gates at 9:30am, there were some characters out in the area before studio one which you could go and see. They also let us straight through studio one and into the park to wait in line for rides, but the rides opened at 10am.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm elaine, now see, this is y i keep changing my mind lol
what uve said makes me think maybe afternoon wud be better, it will be a day when we have lunch at annettes, so either morn or afternoon in studios wud fit nicely.....

i wud like to go on crush, too, and if the afternoon might be quieter queue wise, maybe thats the way to go - we just need time to fit in cars, crush (if poss) stitch live, tot, carpets, and also characters.....

oh my, it is so hard, wanting to get the best & most out of this trip, as it is looking like no chance of a holiday next year (and thats any sort of holiday) due to dhs company goings to a 4 days week, and we will either lose alot of money (£10k) or he uses up his holidays, so we dont loose money, but he wont be able to have time off for a holiday :sad2: unless we win the lottery, or he gets a new job..... so thats y i want to get the most out of it, so the boys have a great time (which i know they will regardless) but i just want to get it all 'right'.

think ill spend the next few days reading trip reports, and making more lists..... ;)

dana - thanks for that, im still not sure on morn/afternoon, but sounds like sumtimes there are characters out in the morning to 'entertain' whilst waiting for the park to open...

tetley - good to know bout the 3yr old - am hopin to get my nearly 3 yr old on it, as hes growing nicely ;)

mind u - thinkin bout it, when we were there in june, we never saw that many characters around, an def not seen mickey in his car in the morning, so i think we must just be in the wrong places all the time!!! maybe i just need to concentrate on walking round n round & maybe we will be lucky this time????

Just got back on Friday and found the queues much shorter in Studios. We were even able to walk on cars at around lunchtime one day. We all loved Stitch live and it was easy to organise time because its got a really good sign that gives you a countdown until the next english show and also tells you how many seats are available. The only ride which always had a huge queue was crushes coaster. We ended up missing it out cause we went on it last year and didn't want to waste time. Don't know if I'd take a 3 year old on TOT it was really scary:scared1:

We met lots of characters in the Studios and found there wasn't so much of a crush to see them. In saying that I thought there were a lot more characters in both parks this year.

On WDS days we aim to get there early. Either joining the queue for Crush or ToT. As others stated they do not open the rides earlier but at least you can queue without the mad dash :)

See I didnt find tot that scary, it was fun not scary, it was amazing to feel so light, light enough to be lifted out of your seat! i found the screaming from the others the first time we went on it scary, but that was it. I just love that ride, its a shame it only lasts a short time.

I didnt find it as scary as Id imagined either - it was great fun

I was so scared our photo just showed the top of my head. I buried my head down and kept my eyes closed until it was over:scared1: The queues were much shorter on Friday for TOT (about 5 mins) than they were for crushes coaster

How many days are you going for this time scampbunny?

Its just that we usually go for 3 days, and we'll be in the studios at some point on 2 of those days.
On our first day this time, we arrived at the parks at 11am, went straight to the main Park, and then around 5pm we went to the studios. We only left at 6pm that day to go back and see Candleabration, otherwise we probably would have stayed in the studios until the parks closed at 7pm.

My bil and nephew spent the whole day, from official park open, until 6.30pm, in the studios the next day - us girles only left for a couple of hours to see the parades in the main park :goodvibes.

There really is loads to do in the studios, even if you're not into coasters (and that would be me!). After Fantasyland, the studios is my favourite part of DLRP.

I'm going to be 'awkward' and say we found it more of a scrum getting photos/autos in the Studios actually than the Park - the Toon Train wasn't too bad but Donald et al was a scrum! Might have been when we went (just before Halloween started)?

I loved the Studios but on the whole do think it's more for adults but not totally. DD1 (3.5 yrs) loved Cars and a few other rides and adored Stitch interactive - v good & funny.

I was really worried that we wouldn't get all of the Studios done - or at least all the bits we wanted and we only had one day there and a small part of the previous afternoon but we did - minus Crush - the queue was just tooooo long with a 3.5 year old and 5 month old waiting for us - it wouldn't have been fair. I do think they need to get their acts together and get this ride on Fastpass though - I know they keep trialling it. Also, it seems to break a lot  Twice we heard of in our stay :confused3

Enjoy your planning ;)
