Hi DVCers
I am considering renting DVC points for a visit to the World Nov 2012. I am wondering if studio villas are ever adjoining? We need more than 1 room for our group and I seriously doubt this is the case but thought you guys would be the folks to ask! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much!

A studio can only connect with a 1-bedroom to make a 2-bedroom lock-off.

'Tis True, 'tis true; but why not ask for a 2 bedroom lockoff to suit your needs?

So, is that the ONLY time rooms adjoin in the villas (studio to a 1 BR)? How do I figure the points needed for that set-up then? Is it studio points + 1BR points?

I clearly have no idea what I'm doing and am trying to figure it out!! Thanks for your help!

You would just look at the point for a two bedroom.

It looks cheaper, points-rental-wise, to get multiple studios (we have a party of 11) than a GV or 2 BR's..... :confused3

That is correct becuase studios only have kitchettes and no laundry machines- in a 2 bedroom you have a 3rd room- a living room as well as a full kitchen and a washing machine and dryer in your unit. That adds to the cost of the 1 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms. It depends on how you want to sleep and hang out for the best arrangement for your group. In a studio (except OKW) 2 of the people will be sleeping on a couch, in a 1 bedroom the same thing happens (although in BLT/Most of AKV/OKW there is also a chair that pulls out adding 1 more bed to the room)

A dedicated 2 bedroom at many resorts will have a king bed, and 2 queen beds as well as the pull out couch- more people get regular beds.

Many thanks for explaining that! :)

At some locations, like OKW, there are only so many studios on each floor and they are usually at opposite ends of the building. So you might get three or four studios in one building, but they might be on different floors and different ends of the building.

My advice would be to book a 1BR unit at Old Key West. You will have a bedroom with a king-size bed and a living room with a double pull out sofa and a single pull out chair. You will also have a full kitchen, a large patio/balcony with table and chairs and full-size washer/dryer in your unit. The villas at OKW are the largest of any DVC resort yet have the lowest point-cost per night. The resort is beautiful with a Key West theme.

If you'd like to take a look at the OKW 1BR villas there are lots of pictures here...http://allears.net/acc/g_okw.htm

For 11 people, they would need more than a one bedroom. But they could get a two bedroom (lockoff or dedicated), plus one more studio (probably under the other studio portion if they got lockoff) and that would fit their family of 11. And OKW one bedroom villas and studios are very large.

Oops...sorry...I missed that. I thought it was just for their family of 5. I agree that the 2BR + Studio is the way to go and I'd still recommend Old Key West for all the reasons I described before.

When you are doing requests, "adjoining" and "connecting" are 2 different things. "Adjoining" just means next to each other. "Connecting" has the inner door in between. There are adjoining studios, meaning next to each other (but no connecting door).

DebbieB is correct.

there are studios that are next door to get other. In BWV, VWL and OKW - know because been in them.

sometimes like OKW they do attach to a 1-bedroom on the other side.
bwv & Vwl think one or two of the dedicated are next to each other.

thanks, everyone.... I will look into a 2BR + studio either adjoining or connecting.... as long as it's nearby (the kids will want to go back and forth, I'm sure)....

Great info!! :thumbsup2

Note that "nearby" is a request and requests are merely that. That studio might be right next door (it won't connect), but nearby in the DVC world might mean "above you on a different floor" or "in the next building over." If its absolutely necessary to be close, you'll want to book a Grand Villa - or consider staying offsite where you can book a home for a lot cheaper and get everyone in one house.

You can't get a two bedroom villa connected to a studio. Doesn't exist. A studio only connects to a one bedroom - to make a two bedroom lockoff.

And like crisi says, a studio nearby a two bedroom is only a request, not guaranteed.
