In a lot of ways, I prefer a room on the 1st floor at OKW. No stairs to climb after a long day of walking in the parks.

I've stayed in 1st floor OKW rooms twice and never had a noise problem from people above me. Still had excellent views outside my balcony on both occasions.

I guess there could be some dense foliage that might grow up around your balcony that could make having any kind of view very difficult. But the stairs thing was worth it to me.

Thank you for the information. I can't wait. This will be my first time home :)

We are staying in a 2nd floor studio at OKW right now- previously we have always had a 1st floor studio- this is the first time we have heard neighbor noise at OKW (I think some of it just depends on your nieghbors- and it hasn't been bad but I can hear when they are running water and such).

I personally like the first floor better as no stairs and we are staying near the Hospitality house but I prefer South Point area (where we have always stayed in the past)- I have been driving down there each evening to use the quiet pool instead of the main pool.

I would avoid building 14. I was in a studio there that was without the front window. It was dark and dank. :confused3 We switched to a 2nd floor studio in South Point. It was awesome. :goodvibes I would recommend getting a higher floor if possible.

The studio connected to the one bedroom we stayed in this summer would have been okay if you wanted solitude. Right outside the window was a bamboo barricade (planted in a row around the end of the building to shield the villa from the pool. And within that shielded area was the transformer for the building and the AC condensor. So absolutely no view at all, but it should have been relatively quiet - except for the electrical hums. This was on the first floor. The second floor might have been a bit nicer.

Another time we were in a studio in Bldg 65 or maybe 64. Most of the studios are on the ends of the buildings. We had a view of the parking area and some of the water trap behind the building. We did have a few bunnies come up to the patio. And this was on the first floor as well.

One time we got a first floor studio and right next to our porch/patio/balcony where 4 (yes 4) AC condensors. Being August at least one of them was always running so we could not use it.

The previous posters are all correct. There are good first floor studios and bad first floor studios. I personally stay in a first floor studio many years ago and have a very nice view. It just depends. :confused3

Thanks everyone for your input. I am staying in the HH area.

I have seen pictures from other posters here on the disboards of a 1 bedroom at OKW that has been renovated- so pretty. Have the studio rooms beem renovated? Thanks for your help.

How do you know a month in advance that you'll be on the first floor?

I should of said that I put in for 1st floor and was wondering how they were. I usually stay at French Quarter but just bought dvc in July. I'll be happy staying anywhere as long as I am at Disney.
