As much as I would love to try a 1- or 2-bdrm, we have been studio stayers so far. Each time I go to make a reservation, we usually end up planning with other people and renting points to them and all stay in studios to conserve points/costs. I don't really mind....I'd rather go with others and enjoy their company than have the extra space. And we've always been happy in studios. At BWV we even had 5 in the room! (2 kids on the pull-out, DH and I had the bed, and my under-2 son on a kids aerobed.)

Anyone else perpetual studio stayers?

My wife and I always stay in studios. WIth just the two of us it is enough space. We would like to do a 1 bedroom, but figure doing a studio lets us do another trip to Disney.

We've done a few trips with family and get a 2 bedroom which is awesome. But for just the 3 of us we've always done studios. We keep saying we'll move up to a 1 bedroom but for now we'd rather stay longer in less space.

We have staying in a variety of room but for extended family trips studios are great because the give you privacy. Sure a full kitchen would be great but in a studio you don't have to share and can also be alone more easily if you need a little time away from the crowd.

We don't own a lot of points right now so we have preferred length of stay to size of accomodations. Studios give us the best of both worlds - longer, more frequent stays while still allowing us to have deluxe accomodations. As our kids progress into the teenage years we will most likely outgrow the studios but for now they work perfectly and are our first choice when booking stays.

We were... up until last year when we brought DD. The convenience of having W/D tops it all. I always wonder why DVC doesn't build a 1br value type room instead of a studio.

Just a little bigger room than a studio (doesn't even have to be as big as AKL 1br Value), with W/D and an expanded kitchenette (micro, real fridge, and a space big enough for a plug in appliances (toaster oven, maybe GF grill or a electric pan). I would be happy with that.

Heck, I would be happy with a W/D in a studio now... :)

We normally don't like spending the extra points to get a 1 bedroom and have never done a 2 bedroom. We are a family of 3 so studios work fine for us even when we have a 4th person traveling with us. If we do laundry it is usually done while relaxing by the pool or very early in the morning so not having a W/D isn't a big deal. 1 bedrooms are very nice but not a must for us!

We've stayed in one bedrooms and the extra space was nice, especially when my daughter brings a friend with her and there are four of us. Or when I bring one of my nieces. But we have found that we really don't spend much time in the room. We are at the parks, at the pool, out shopping, but rarely in the room except to sleep and shower. So the extra space really isn't worth the extra points to us.

We only stay in Studios. We would rather stay longer, then stay grander!

I love the convenience of the W/D in a larger room but I actually don't mind doing laundry either. I usually take my book throw a load in and sit by the pool for some quiet time.

family of four with 2 DDS (18 and 22) we are studio stayers. Staying in a studio allows us to stay longer and in all honesty - we get along well enough it is not a hardship for us. Seems more like a family vacation when we spend that much time together. I really prefer it to being so spread out.

When we first joined DVC way back when we were a family of 8, my DW, 5 DDs, our DS, and me. As the children left the nest our accommodations changed from a two bedroom, then a one bedroom, and finally a studio exclusively. We are almost an empty nest and, though we LOVE our children, can't wait. Back to the studio. Now we make two extended trips instead of one long family trip per year. In fact we now manage to bank a few points each year that we us for an extended weekend here and there. We'll fly down for the Food & Wine Festival or whatever tickles our fancy. We know this will end as the grand children come along and get old enough to enjoy the magic. Until that time -- We love our studio. The perfect benefit of downsizing. ;)

Looks like I have lots of company. I knew there had to be others enjoying the pts savings of studio life!

We may eventually move up to larger accomodations as the boys get bigger and possibly bring a friend or two, but I can also see us using the studios for a LONG time. The thought of the larger room is nice, but parting with points is hard!

We're going to stay in studios for the first time in May/June :cool1::cool1: Our first stays were all in 2BRs as we had my brother's family along with us. I don't foresee any issues though :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We don't have a lot of points either so we also prefer more/longer trips in a studio than to use points for a larger room. However, my in-laws are going with us in Dec and gave me $ to get a points transfer so we could get a 2 bedroom. I hope I don't become too spoiled having the w/d in the room and all the extra space. It is only for 1/2 the trip and then we are right back to reality, I mean a studio.

oooohhh... be careful with that... :lmao:
We took our family to VGC, they got 2br and we stayed in a studio. Now I dream of one day going back to a 2br. Even with just the 3 of us... :rotfl:
My parents were blown away by the accommodation, I thought they were going to say we are crazy for buying a timeshare. But once they were in it, they couldn't stop gushing about how smart we are... :thumbsup2

If it's just the two of us, we'll typically get a studio unless we are celebrating a special occasion or plan to spend more time in the room than at the parks. We find the studios very comfortable.

When we bought our initial small OKW points by resale my plan was to stay in studios. Our first stay was a 2BR at OKW and we have yet to stay in a studio, lol! Even with 4 at GCV we have a 1BR and love the 2 bathrooms and space! Plus 2 balconies! I just can't convince myself to stay in a studio now even though we do at Westin Ka'anapali Maui because those studios are huge and have a w/d. If DVC put w/d in the studio I'd be more likely to stay in one.

We love the studios for the simple fact that we can travel more frequently. We love them soooo much, that we just added 200 AKV points to our contract so that we can take advantage of the value studios. Just today I made my first ressie for an 8 day stay in a value studio next March. Can't wait!

DH and I plan to stay in studios the majority of the time. We loVed the 1 br at SSR but the studio at OKW was great too. We are staying at AKV for the first time in sept and got a savanah view studio. I can't wait!:woohoo:
