Just wondering if anyone would be willing to share what they were able to cook within the limits of a studio kitchenette? We are heading to Aulani for 9 nights, followed by 5 nights at VGC, all in a studio. It's myself, husband and 6 year old son. We are not picky eaters, but tire of restaurants pretty quickly so I am hoping to prepare basic meals in the room and probably eat out once a day. I would love to hear ideas!

have you thought about grilling? I have read reviews on how people have grilled at Aulani's. I am not sure about VGC but I know all of the DVC's in Florida have grills. We always grill atleast once. You could grill some chicken and then have left overs for a nice salad the next day

There is no stove top, so you are limited to the microwave, toaster and grill. We have breakfast in our studios every day but we rarely eat dinner because of the limitations. We do try to grill out at least once per visit and we buy steam-in-the-bag veggies and/or potatoes to go with whatever we grill.

I have placed a flat electric griddle in the bottom of my suitcase for studio cooking. We didn't try anything too exotic. Grilled cheese sandwiches and pancakes made with the just add water mix. Things like that. Pre-cooked bacon for the microwave adds a little meat.

Yes .... we use the grill @ VGC ALL THE TIME!!! Although we are in a 1 or more bedroom when using it. Hamburgers, hotdogs, kabobs and my favorite thick steaks from Costco!!! I am close to home so I usually bring everything and have never had to ask the front desk for anything. The Whitewater Cafe by the pool has a few items for sale to cook with. I don't know if you have time to stop by the nearest market but I think Vons has grocery delivery service.

Just curious, are these types of small appliances allowed in all of the Disney hotel rooms, or is it just the DVC rooms? I know at other hotels we've stayed at (not in Florida), they always have rules against using small appliances in the rooms.

The grills are great! You can get grill utensils and a cleaning brush at community hall.

Soup! You can buy fresh bread at the Paradise Pier/Wharf area in DCA and bring it back to toast (yummy) and have with soup.

I've not seen anything that forbids it. No posted signs or anything.

When we were at Aulani in a studio, we took a trip to Target and bought some microwavable food stuff. I made mac and cheese my sister did some vegies, also I picked up some Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches,, which I disassembled and put english muffins in toaster and meat, egg and cheese in microwave. As it turned out we cooked less than we thought, but what we did was good and quick.
