Studio Backlot Tour Closing...?

Honestly, I wouldn't even care if it closed. I'm still annoyed that they took out the Golden Girls house!! :headache: The attraction is ok to do once, after that it's just a waste of time.

Has anyone heard news about the Backlot Tour at the Studios closing?

It was closed when we were there earlier this month, and no one could give an accurate answer as to when it would be up again...? :confused3 There are a lot of rumors circulating that it will close down permanently to make room for the Monsters Inc Factory that will house the New roller coaster.

While I'd be excited for a new thrill ride, I'm a little sad to see a classic go away.
I always liked castatrophe canyon and driving around all those old movie props....

So you heard there is a Monster's Inc ride coming? Well, it only makes sense considering so many of Disney's new attractions are Pixar related. Anyways, I thought one of the coolest scenes in the movies was when Mike and Sulley were back where those billions of doors were, they could make that into a roller coaster right? I've had that idea wince I saw the movie, it would be weird to see them make something like that. Have you ever noticed Disney doesn't have any hanging roller coasters? I wonder why... but I would love to see what they created out of that scene in the movie, if they would.

The only thing I've heard is that the guide with each tour is going to be replaced with a recording instead. It was really good when the Golden girls hous was there but since that went and the Lights Motors Action set came its just not worth seeing. Half the films it refers to my kids have never even heard of!

I rode the Backlot Tour back in December and was disappointed with it. I haven't liked the tour since Lights, Motors, Action! came to DHS. If Disney does put the Monsters Inc. coaster in, they better put in a gentle attraction if they still want to cater to the small audiences.

Those were my thoughts exactly when I first saw the Door scene in Monsters Inc on the Big Screen. I can't wait to see how the ride turns out.

As for the pre-recorded spiel on many attractions: On the plus side everyone gets the same experience since the recording will not leave out any of the approved script. Plus I will be able to understand the entire spiel in clearly spoken English, no offense meant toward our non-american CM's. On the minus side there is no room for a magical experience that can occur with human interaction. It's one of those no-win situations. People complain about pre-recorded spiels, but they also complain when they know the CM skipped or altered something from the approved script. I've been on a fair number of Jungle cruises where the CM was obviously bored to tears to be repeating the same spiel. I had one skipper who was so bad I almost wanted to believe that he was being so obviously bad with the script that he thought he was being more amusing. He wasn't. I had the urge to file a complaint but then I decided to find a better way to amuse myself, after all I was at the Happiest Place on Earth. Needless to say if that spiel ever becomes prerecorded I probably won't take the jungle cruise ever again. The jokes are pretty pathetic.
