We are a couple and have no need for more than a studio room. Our schedules are extremely flexible. Is there any time of year that studios are relatively easy to come by at the 7 month reservation mark? We bought into Poly, so we will always be happy with that stay…still, we may look for some variety in the future.

I found off peak, like September and January, easy to book. If you try hard enough you should be able to even get some of the harder rooms, like Beach Club. Heck, right now VGF and Boardwalk are available, those are tough!

There are some categories that will be impossible, like BLT value, AKL value, club level, Boardwalk value. These rooms are booked solid at 11 months. I think the RIV studios are approaching that kind of booking as well.

I've booked AKL savanna last minute, with a day or two notice.

This thread gives a very good picture of typical availability through the year. Right now things are still all over the place with extra points in the system and unusual cancellations due to people not being able to travel but eventually it should get back to normal.

2020-2022 data is going to be skewed by covid anyway. Thanks for this link!

To add, things are ever changing so honestly, having a general idea is good but until you can book, it’s more of info than anything else.

What we do know is mid September to mid January are very busy so 7 month bookings are tough.

Near park resorts are always tougher than the big 3 of OKW, SSR and AKV.

The new studios being added in summer 2022 at VGF will change things as well for 7 month bookings at WDW for those studio bookings.

True. Do you have any idea, assuming the new studios open mid-2022, what the timeframe would be for accepting reservations? Are they already accepting res for home resorters?

We almost always book studios, with a home at AKV we only stay there maybe 20% of the time. I usually see pretty good luck at 7 months for most resorts from mid-January to mid-September. Certain ones (BCV and VGF come to mind) are hard at 7 months, but most of the rest can be gotten. I just booked Poly at 7 months for beginning of May. BLT and BRV would have been options as well. Riviera preferred was available too but no thanks at that price. Shorter stays you can often get a waitlist to come through as well.

No. We won’t get any info until they share a sale date and an opening date

Then they will decide who can book when. Home resort owners, new and old, should be given at least a small window to book before others for stays within 7 months.

Do you think it will be the same studio categories for booking or new ones?

I think the booking will be similar to a Jambo vs. Kidani situation. You will book either the deluxe studio at the VGF building...or you will book the resort studio at Big Pine Key. IMO, I think the new studios will have at least 2 different views...those that face in toward the quiet pool (SV)...and those that face out to the lake. Someone mentioned, that some of those outer rooms may even have a view of MK, so maybe we will see 3 different views.

Wondering the same thing. I know that many years ago, we were able to make reservations at a resort about 5-6 months before it opened.
