We are looking at possibly going to Disney ahead of Christmas (12/18-23). How likely is it that a studio will be available at the 7 month window? We would be using points from a friend that owns at Vero, hence the 7 month booking window. Would a 1 or 2 bedroom be more likely, or just as difficult to get?

Honestly, it will be very difficult. But if one jumps on right at 7 months, and you are willing to maybe book a split stay, it might be doable,

Since they are not your points, the only glitch is that with constant checking, there is a way to sometimes piece together the trip. it would require your friend to check daily to see if they can get you the dates you want if you can’t get the trip the way you want.

Apropos this thread, I just changed from a studio to a one bedroom at VWL in December. Decided we needed the king bed.

You might have a shot at SSR or OKW for a studio...but anywhere else, will probably have been booked solid by that point...these will more than likely be your best options for a 1-bedroom as well.

Last year, I booked a split-stay during my home resort priority for a trip in December... due to some unforeseen circumstances, I ended up adding more nights just after the 7-month window. I was able to secure studios for 1 night at the beginning of my trip at the Grand Floridian, and 2 nights at the end of my trip at AKV Jambo House. It ended up being a LOT of moving (due in part to the original split-stay)... but the availability was so spotty that I had to do it if I was going to extend my stay.

If you’re going to book a stay near Christmas time at the 7-month mark, you have to be willing to take whatever is left & be willing to move. If you’re ok with that, you can still have a great trip! 😁 My advice would be to have a plan of attack for 8amEST sharp on the first day you can book!! If you would be able to stay in a 1-bedroom, you may have more options. Good luck!
