Hi There,
My husband and I have a studio booked for 5 nights at the Wilderness Villas in July. My question is, should we have booked a 1 bedroom? We don't plan on doing any cooking but we will be spending more time at the resort than at the parks. We have always stayed in a regular room before so have no idea how the villas are set up. I liked the idea of a little more space which is why we booked the studio. Of course as time goes by and I wait and wait and wait for July to get here, I keep going back and forth from Studio to 1 bedroom. This is our first trip without kids. It's been 20 years so we want it to be very special. Any thoughts would be so helpful.

nance -

Your post doesn't say anything about the type of rate you have. You may be able to go to the DVC rent board and should be able to get a 1BR for approx. $300 per night, it may not be much more costly than the studio

Good luck
I am sure you'll enjoy which ever you end up with.

A studio is fine for two people. My family (4) is going for 4 nights in June and I only booked a studio. It's not "huge" but it is very nice. The kitchenette has a toaster and a microwave and the little fridge is bigger than you'd think. There will be a nice queen-sized bed plus a couch (with a sleeper) and a table.

One-bedroom units are marvelous but there is a big point/cost difference. We are headed over to a 1-bedroom at OKW after our Lodge stay. I'll have the children with me so we will move into the bigger room just as I am about to strangle one of them! Really, for just you and hubby the studio will be great!

Sandy,
It's about $215 a night with an AP rate. We just want to have plenty of room without spending a bundle. I kept hoping for room only codes but, Oh well! Looks like thats not going to happen.

hi: another vote for a 1 br- you'll be amazed at the space. even when it's just dh and me, we get a 1br. i think it rubbed off- my son and dil only like the 1 br units as well. the studio will be nice if that is the way you wind up going. having a sofa to sit on and watch tv beats sitting on a bed any day.

The studios are nice. One piece of info you may not know. There is a laundry room in VWL and the washer and dryers are free to use. You will still need to buy or bring the laundry soap and dryer sheets if you use them. You do have the sofa besides the bed.

The studios aren't really any bigger than a regular room (or not much) but because they have a sofa instead of 2 beds, you have a lot more space to move around! The one bedroom is about twice the size of a studio, since it is 2 rooms.

We haven't stayed in a 1 bedroom yet, because I'm afraid we'll never want to go back to a regular room or studio. :)

I'm sure you'll love either one!

We just returned from 7 wonderful days in a studio at VWL and for 2 people they are wonderful.this has been the best trip so far for us.the rooms are wonderful and very good size, i think.

Thanks Everyone,
I'm starting to feel real good about the Studio Villa. The hardest part about booking a trip to disney for me is to stick to my plan. I originally had reservations at the Polynesian. I think the Studio will give me much more for the money.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa at WL in Feb. For those who don't know a 2 bedroom is actually a 1 bedroom w/adjoining studio.

Here are my thoughts after our stay. The 1 bedroom is actually a 1 bedroom plus a livingroom/dining area. The bedroom has a king size bed, jacuzzi tub, plus shower in bathroom. Has a full kitchen (not that we used it either) and has the washer/dryer in it.

The studio has a queen bed, pullout sofa. Has just a regular bathroom. Has a few amenities (?sp) like coffee maker, refrig, microwave. No laundry in the studio (someone correct me if I am wrong.)

If it were me and I was just going with the studio, i'd go w/the main building (as i'm you'll get a much better view and are closer to most things!)

Hope you have a wonderful stay!

I have also booked a studio at the end of July for my parents at VWL. I was wondering a couple of things.... you mentioned the view and location is better in the "main building"? Should we call DVC member services to request this or does the DVC member have to do this? (we are renting points). Should we ask for a higher floor level? I don't really know how many floors are in the villas. They are staying from Sunday through Friday and then moving over to the Wilderness Lodge for the last few days. Will bell services move their luggage? The only request I have in is for non-smoking.

Thanks for all help!

You can't use DVC points in the main building. You can only use points in the Villas which is a separate building from the main lodge.

Laura1994, for a couple with no children, a studio has more space. The rooms at the WL (in the main building) are really small, especially in the 2 queen bed set up. It's really nice to have a coffee maker, toaster & minifridge included too!

Depending on the price (I'd probably look into renting points), a studio sounds like it would suit the OP's needs better. I know it would ours, until kid #2 gets here! :)
