I'm in the very beginning stages of planning a Spring Break 2013 trip for me, my DH and DD (who will be 3 at the time of the trip). We have rented DVC points in the past, and have had a great experiences. Since spring break is a pricey/crowded time to go we were thinking renting a studio at BLT for 6 nights. The one-bedroom prices to rent are just over the top for us. We are Disney vets, and have stayed from the values to 2-bedrooms at the deluxes. Are we crazy to try to cram the three of us into a BLT studio? I want the proximity to the MK and don't plan on spending too much time at the resort aside from afternoon nap/pool breaks. Any advice from DVC experts?

I think you will be fine.My wife and I stay in a studio all the time (we have a 100 point contract.) I think you will be fine with 3 people in a studio.

I stayed in a BLT studio in 2010 with three people in my party and I really enjoyed it. The BLT studio seemed a little smaller than the studios at some of the other resorts but it was still comfortable. I slept on the pull out sofa every night I was there and I slept very well(it was pretty easy to sleep well after walking around the parks all day). :)

Go for a VWL studio. Fewer points and bigger room. Plus just a boat ride away from the MK.

LeighanneR, :welcome: to the DISboards  This certainly is just the right place for all things Disney :tinker:

There is nothing wrong with a studio. we have been spooned with DVC and staying in larger accommodations. BLT studios are small, but not anything different than staying in a regular hotel room.

I personally would not want to stay 3 at BLT studios, because the furniture is simply too big for the rooms.

There is less room between the bed and sofa bed than even the values have and no room at all between the sofa bed and the glass windows.

I agree with Deb I would pick VWL and have more room.

I agree with this! We frequently stay in a studio with DH, DS (20), and DD (17) and myself and find we have plenty of room. DS prefers to sleep on the floor, so bed space isn't an issue, and we are a close family and don't mind sharing smaller spaces. As a matter of fact, when we recently stayed in a 1 bedroom, DS said it felt like we were spread too far out :rotfl:

We stayed in a BLT studio in December 2010 with 2 adults and a child and, while it was somewhat cramped, it was perfectly fine. I personally prefer the location of BLT over VWL and having a little less room is worth staying at BLT.

Do you think your child will sleep in a bed or a pack and play? I think you would be fine either way, but the pack and play would give you more room. I don't think the rooms at BLT are anything special, but I love being able to walk to MK.

We have stayed at WL and don't understand why the boat ramp is so open to the weather. Why can't they have some type of awning to protect you while waiting in line?

Have you stayed in a single hotel room with your daughter?

I know a lot of people do this, and it works for them. But, that was never my idea of a vacation.

My husband and I stayed in a studio for a week at AKV with a 2 and 3 year old. It was a little cramped, but wasn't so bad that I wouldn't do it again if push came to shove. (Now that I've experienced a 1 bedroom it's hard going back to studios. :rotfl2:). I'm not sure if AKV studio is larger than BLT, but I would imagine with only one child you should be ok. Have a wonderful trip! :cool1:

Oh, yeah, the AKV studio is larger than the BLT studio. It's tiny.

depends upon your family. do you go to sleep instantly and not wake up until the next morning - you will be fine.

my problem is going to the bathroom later on - there is enough room for a single or couple (but only if both are in the bed) - that sleeper sofa just takes up to much room when it is open.

firm believer in studio and I use them all the time.

now the good part - the bathroom is much bigger than other studios. and since DVC finally listen - there are mirrors in both the bathroom and kitchennet.

Granted I have never stayed in a BLT studio but with your dd being 3 - you should be better than fine. Now if you want to have your dd in a separate room for the 1 hour that she might nap - then you might want to get the 1 BDR and have her nap in the bedroom while you and dh are in the living room. I personally would not use all those points for this. If I was not renting points and had extra points to burn (banked, etc.) I would say go for it!

Happy planning and keep us posted :)

Are there any floor plans out there for a studio at Aulani? We are staying 3 in a studio in May, and this thread has me a little scared. What is the square footage?

look on the 4th post.

for the room layout - go to the dvcmember site - in the dvc resort under member getaways click on Aulani - then to the left click on accomodations - then click on - deluxe studio (title blue) - and wait - it takes it a little while - but it will give you a layout of the room
