Hi there, kind of in different situation than most of you probobly are..

Married when I was 18, HS sweatheart, had our sweet dd 3 years later, and here we are 25, working our lives backwards, and now going to College. But I had a question on Student Loans, since we have been able to pay for school either through Financ. Aid and out of pocket so far. However, this year...we will NEED a loan.

That said, anyone know how the process works, what company is good to go with ect..?? Are they forgiving as far as credit scores go? Ours is middle of the road.

Thanks for the info!

I have no clue as to how forgiving they are when it comes to credit scores, but some schools have a financial aid advisor you might try touching base with. My school has a financial aid fair this time of the year (since W2's are being sent out). I doubt you should have a problem getting financial aid due to the fact you're married and have been out of school for awhile. Best of luck, though!

I believe that financial aid is through the Government and is not based on a credit score. Because it is given by the US Government and has to be repaid to them the loan is based on how many credit hours you are taking, how many you already have, and the length of time you have been in school.

My husband and I both started college late and both had student loans and our credit was not perfect. Had no problem obtaining them and I am almost sure they guarante anyone can get them. The only thing you have to be careful of is taking more than you need. It is tempting at the time but take it from someone who is now paying them back it comes back to get you on the other end.

Hope that helps. Good luck in school.

If you get a federal (Stafford) loan, they are NOT based on creditworthy-ness!
You have to apply for these through the FAFSA and your school's financial aid office.

Good luck with school! I'm finally graduating this May at the ripe old age of 29! :)
