Student ID's

I personally do not think asking for ID from a teenager is all that unappropriated. My kids has state ID cards from the time they were 10 & 12 and went to WDW, traveling by airplane for the first time. I just didn't want to be that far away from home w/o them having some form of ID.

Most kids don't have this! They never need ID for anything else, such a domestic travel. Going through airport security they only asked what his name was. It's totally insane if Disney requires more than TSA!
The only ID they have is passport and no way are we carrying that around Disney.

Hi all. Just to clear a few things up.

-The first day is the only time I was ever given a hard time about the kid IDs. My son was asked for an ID each time (he looks older than his age); but he simply said he was 16 and went thru. One CM even wrote 16yr and 14yr on the tickets saying "here let's put this so no one gives you a hard time". I hadn't told her, so must have been an issue for others too.

-They make you sign each ticket.

-They were making every adult going thru the gate show an ID. We only had 3 day.

- I understand why they are doing it. Just think it needs to be better advertised. Didn't know until we got to the gate. So this really slowed down in all the lines with people fumbling thru purses and asking questions.

I am aware that most kids don't but every kid COULD get one. They are usually less than $20, so not too terribly expensive. And is is really isn't a bad idea for kids to have an ID "just in case." Not so they can get into Disneyland (of course) but for those you never know situations.

They have been having guests write their names on the tickets for4 - 5 day tickets they may be starting to do this for ALL multi-day tickets.

DD12 and DBF had 3 day hoppers, as did DBF's parents and his sister and her family, everyone had to write their names on their tickets, DBF and DD12's tickets were purchased at the gates (well at the Toy Story lot really) and they asked their names and had them printed right on the tickets by the computer. I honestly can't remember if DBF had to show his ID. DD16 and I have APs so we did not have to show ID.
