Stuck w/ Smoking Room?

We've taken one trip.

We had one request - non-smoking

We had a smoking room.

But I didn't even notice until halfway through our stay when I realized it didn't have the little no smoking symbol next to the door. So I'm not complaining.

(It would be different if the room smelled smokey).

We had a smoking optional room at BCV last June. Didn't even realize it until I noticed it did not have a no smoking sign outside the room. It was not bad at all.

17 trips-always got a non-smoking. I have asthma and my wife smokes, so just like at our house she goes outside and smokes, that means the balcony at WDW. I have tried to stay in smoking rooms twice, once up at Saratoga, the real Saratoga and once at one of our casinos here in CT. I was up all night unable to sleep both times. If they ever tried to enforce any non smoking on the balcony rule or law, the smoking would very quickly go inside the rooms instead. I have been married to a smoker for many years, I can tell you smokers are addicts, they will smoke somewhere. Best to let them smoke on the balcony! I would not concern myself with non-smoking rooms, you will get one.

The entire resort should be made non-smoking with a $500 fine for violators.

I agree 100% with the above post, and I bet that day will be here in the near future.

The number of smoking rooms is so small compared to the number of non-smoking rooms, that the chances of getting a smoking room when you've requested otherwise are small.

Do I believe that some have received smoking rooms when they have specifically requested non-smoking? Yes. Is it a frequent occurence? NO.

The "problem" becomes you now concentrate the smokers in fewer units, those units will reek even more of stale smoke. While this might annoy the average smoker, it would be devastating to those who really have a medical condition directly impacted by tobacco residues who are stuck with a smoking unit due to the vagarities of their check-in time and room assignments.

I think eventually the forces of political correctness will prevail and all units will by law become non-smoking creating a whole new subclass of criminals.

Personally, I think we should first ban people who use perfume and cologne like it was the early 80's still, but that's just me. :cool2:

Wow, After reading this thread, we must've had really bad luck last Nov. We got a smoking studio at BCV, It reeked of smoke odor and my DD couldn't stop coughing after she steped into room. Even the CM with our lugguage said it was bad, so we switched. Then we checked out for our cruise. We checked into VWL upon our return from the cruise for one night, again a smoking room but there was no odor so we stayed. However upon returning from dinner, our next door smoking neighbors returned and smoke began to billow into our room through the connecting door. I had to stuff towels at the bottom of the door and kept the fan on all night.
