Stuck on Splash, Swimming in Sewage, & Still Laughing! A "Classy" 6/11 TR- 5/6 DONE!

OMG! I totally agree about when you see the loading area for the first time! I'm such a TSM freak that the Fastpasses aren't really enough for me, so I'm always waiting on the regular line too, and when you finally go around the bend and see Andy's room it's like Heaven!! AHH I want to go right now!

Eye of the Tiger playing while you ride :rotfl:

HAHAHA that part in Toy Story 2 always cracks me up. I love how genuinely funny those movies are. I'm a bit of a Toy Story freak (if you couldn't tell haha) and it's awesome how you can laugh as a kid and they are still just as funny if not more when you get older!

YAY YOU'RE GOING TO SCI FI!!!!! :woohoo: My favorite restaurant! Can't wait to read all about it. I hope you got some good milkshakes. YUM.

OMG! Storm troopers on the roof! I would die if I saw that! I love Star Wars SOOOOO much! :lovestruc

Ahhhh, TSM! I feel like every TR I'm following right now is doing updates about the mad dash! :rotfl: I feel so left out because I have never done it, I always cheat and go on EMH mornings so there's no need to dash! I love that ride! I wonder why John can't beat you and Brandon can't beat me...I mean, Brandon is pretty much a video game expert, and I beat him every single time! :woohoo: Heh heh!

OMG Darth Vader!!! He's my favorite Star Wars character! Yeah, I know he's a villain and you're supposed to want the rebels to win, but Darth Vader is so freakin bad @#$, you can't help but be fascinated with him! Although it is hard to watch Star Wars now and not think of Mufasa!

I've been wanting to watch Toy Story 2 for days, but I never do, now that you mentioned it, I'm gonna watch it tomorrow! I've been watching Toy Story 3 lately, because it's on Starz all the time, and I can watch it over and over, but I haven't seen 2 in a while, I love that one! They're all so good!

Just found your report today and love it! You are a great writer.

Great updates. The story of the old couple is priceless. I laughed so hard reading it.

Love the Storm troopers on the roof! I am a huge Star Wars fan :

Sci-Fi Diner is one of my son's favorites --- I think he would happily sit in there and watch the clips all day!

Hahaha it's awesome how they have the Storm Troopers at the entrance!

YES! I totally know what you mean! Sometimes even when a line is short it feels like it takes forever to get through it. But when you see those ride vehicles... JOY! I totally understand!

SLINKY! He was always one of my favorite Toy Story characters. What a cutie. Good for you getting best score TWICE! That's awesome! As competitive as I am and as much as I LOVE TSMM, I get terrible scores! Hahha it's almost laughable.

:lmao: OMG that TS2 quote cracks me up every time!

Hooray for photobombing with Darth! Good old Darth. Hahha I'm the same way when I see characters walking around. Totally in awe.

Stars Wars Weekend(s) look like so much fun! That has to be so cool to see the storm troopers and Darth Vader up close (he looks super tall)! It cracked me up that you guys "photo bomb" -- we do that too, although not always on purpose! :rotfl:

That's awesome that you can beat John at TSMM! I never beat DH :(

Looking forward to reading more! Sci-Fi is on our list of "must dos" for our trip!

P.S. You and John tour WDW a lot like DH and I tour DL, so your report is VERY helpful! We're still waiting to get less-tentative dates for our trip, so I'm sure I'll have lots of questions soon. Thanks again! :goodvibes

Enjoyed your update! :) I was really impressed with the new Star Tours. I liked the old one but the updates are a big improvement. Sadly it makes DW even more motion sick than the old one did which means it's another ride that I do alone at DHS. She won't ride RNR or TOT. With the exception of TSM, I feel like our DHS day always involves me doing rides alone while DW enjoys the atmosphere with the kids.

I should be starting my TR sometime this week. Notes are compiled and pics are uploaded. Once there's a pause in the basketball action I might have time.

Thanks! :) Oh no...I'm sorry your DW can't ride the new Star Tours! Maybe once your kids are big enough they will be a little more into thrill rides than she is, so you'll have a ride buddy at DHS! ;)

Yay! I can't wait to hear all about your trip! :goodvibes

I'm glad you can relate to the loading area euphoria! :goodvibes It's such a magical feeling!

 That's definitely how I feel while riding...I'm so intense!

I'm a Toy Story freak too so I totally agree with you! They have a lot of adult humor (not inappropriate, just a little bit over kids' heads I think) that makes them just as funny when you grow up!

Unfortunately my Sci Fi update isn't that great because it was with my old crappy camera, but my other TR will have a much better one! :)

OMG! Storm troopers on the roof! I would die if I saw that! I love Star Wars SOOOOO much! :lovestruc

Even though I'm not a Star Wars fan it was still really cool seeing those Stormtroopers! John was freaking out!

Haha what is it with these boys and TSM? I guess we're just awesome! :thumbsup2

I can see why you're impressed with Darth Vader even though he's a villain! He's a pretty tough looking guy!

I watched all three Toy Story movies last Sunday. It was so fun! I've decided I'm going to turn Sundays into my DISboard/Disney movie day! I'm getting ready to watch Tangled right now! :goodvibes

Just found your report today and love it! You are a great writer.

Yes! The ride vehicles are like the light at the end of the tunnel! I love it!

I love Slinky! He's so loyal to Woody, just like Bullseye! They're so sweet. :lovestruc

Thanks! I was pretty proud of myself for beating John twice! :rotfl: Don't worry, that's how I am on Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin...my scores are always awful!

Haha I love that photobomb picture. John looks so smooth! I saw Flik walking around AK once and I almost lost my mind! :lmao:

Stars Wars Weekend(s) look like so much fun! That has to be so cool to see the storm troopers and Darth Vader up close (he looks super tall)! It cracked me up that you guys "photo bomb" -- we do that too, although not always on purpose! :rotfl:

It was really cool seeing all of the characters! Darth was pretty tall! John said if he ever works at Disney he wants to be him!

Haha that's the ONLY thing I can be John at!

Sci Fi is wonderful! We eat there every trip! :goodvibes

I'm so glad my TR is helpful for your plans! Pleae ask any questions you have- I'll be happy to help you out! :thumbsup2

Can I just say how much I love Tangled? I’m watching it while writing this, and I can’t keep my eyes on the computer screen because this movie is just SO GOOD. “Alright, you get the jest…she sings to it, she turns young. Creepy, right?” I love you, Eugene! :lovestruc

Before I begin this update I’d like to post a disclaimer: my terrible camera pretty much ruined all of my pictures this go-round. If you’re following my most recent TR you’ll know that I have since replaced said crappy camera, but unfortunately it was all I had to work with on this trip. Usually the pictures aren’t that bad, but this update seems to be filled with really bad ones! I apologize in advance. I’ll try to make up for it with my rapier wit. (That reminds me of a completely DIS-inappropriate joke from Dumb and Dumber. If you’ve seen it, I’m sure you remember. :rolleyes1)

Alright, you have been warned. Let’s go!

When I left off we were having a very successful morning at DHS, and now it was time for a very delicious lunch at Sci Fi Dine in Theater!

In case you haven’t noticed, John and I eat here literally every trip. The food is good, not the best in Disney, but good, but we just can’t stay away from the atmosphere! Eating here is one of the first things I ever did at Disney, so it holds a very special place in my heart. It’s just so fun! :goodvibes

We were “parked” in the back of a car behind a family of four. John and I made a couple of jokes to ourselves about how we were the creepy people hiding in the backseat of their car. You know, the usual. Almost immediately after we sat down the mother, who was sitting right in front of me, turned around and we struck up a conversation. She was so nice! I can’t remember much about her family, but I do remember it was their last day of vacation. We talked pretty much nonstop, and when her family’s appetizers arrived she shared them with us! At first I was like, “Um…that’s okay.” But she was like, “Seriously, there’s no way we can eat all of this!” Apparently they were on the DxDP and were struggling with the amount of food it entails. Maybe her offering us some was an empty gesture, but she didn’t skip a beat when I said “Well…SURE!” How sweet is that? I mean really, who shares their food with people they don’t even know? I love making new friends at Disney! :cloud9:

Okay so since my camera at the time had no flash I have zero food pictures, but I can tell you what we ordered! John got a chocolate milkshake for his drink, but I had to go with a Diet Coke with cherry flavoring. I love the flavoring they add to their sodas! It reminds me of the soda you can get at the Waffle House, but comparing Disney food to Waffle House food would simply be blasphemy so I’m not going to go any further with that. We each got a burger, which were fantastic, and for dessert I had a sundae and John had the chocolate peanut butter cake. Both were absolutely delish!

I’m sorry about the lack of food pictures, but I did take a few pictures inside the restaurant/drive in.

AnniversaryTrip441.jpg

John found that movie clip hysterical. For the rest of the trip he kept calling me a “sultry beauty” which, I guess I should take as a compliment, but sweating to death in the Florida heat makes me feel disgusting, not sultry. What a good hubby. :lovestruc

AnniversaryTrip442.jpg

Yay! These little guys always remind me of Grease. “Stranded at the drive in, branded a fool….what will they say, Monday at schooooool?”

And that’s it for Sci Fi pictures. Sorry again about that. If you’re following along on my other TR I PROMISE the pictures are way better for that Sci Fi update!

Okay so after we stuffed ourselves and said goodbye to our new friends we made our way out of our beloved Sci Fi. They were having some kind of big to-do in front of Mickey’s hat, so we wandered over that way. There was a ton of people crowded around, and we realized quickly that it was something for Star Wars weekends. It was about this time that John started to lose his mind, because there was a whole bunch of celebrities from Star Wars on the stage being introduced! Now forgive me, but you know I’m not a Star Wars fan, so I have no idea who half these people are. I’ll post some pictures and maybe you’ll recognize them.

AnniversaryTrip448.jpg

AnniversaryTrip450.jpg

Okay I do remember that this guy in the wheelchair was the original Chewbacca. I can’t remember his name and I’m too lazy to Google it, but I still thought that was pretty cool! :thumbsup2 *Edit: Okay so I felt guilty for being so lazy, so I Googled it. His name is Peter Mayhew! Thought you'd like to know. ;)

AnniversaryTrip451.jpg

Here’s the other one I remember: the blonde girl on the far right is Ashley Eckstein. John said that she was a character in the Clone Wars and apparently she designs Star Wars clothes now, but I was more excited because she was on That’s So Raven!! :hyper:

AnniversaryTrip454.jpg

She was the mean blonde girl that always gave Raven a hard time. How exciting!

Here she is again:

AnniversaryTrip452.jpg

John was thrilled that he got to see all the Star Wars people, and I was excited that I got to see someone from one of my all-time favorite Disney channel shows! (I was a big Even Stevens fan. If Beans had been there I would have flipped out.)

It was really crowded around that area, so we decided to cut out early. We had had a very busy morning at DHS and we were ready to go back to the resort for a while. We still had a lot more planned for the evening, so we needed to rest a bit!

Up Next: Back to the resort, then John finds a new addiction at Downtown Disney! Stay tuned!

Okay, I love the Gretchen Weiner reference. "That's just so fetch!" :lmao:

The AKL story with the old couple had me cracking up. It helps that I too am only 12 years old on the inside, so this kind of stuff makes me laugh. Also, it sounds like something that we would do.

I haven't been to Star Wars weekends in quite a number of years. I so want to go back!

That's so neat that the family in front of you guys at Sci-Fi was so nice! That was nice of them to share their appetizers with you too. I'm so looking forward to eating at Sci-Fi on our trip (made reservations yesterday :woohoo:).

Stars Wars Weekends look like fun, even if you're not that into the movies. I'm so glad that you guys were able to make a day of it for John!

Looking forward to reading the next update!

Oh my gosh. Tangled. I'm OBSESSED with that movie. I have the biggest crush on Eugene, it's so ridiculous. I like to think of him as a real person and not a computer animated one. LOVE HIM and that movie.

Hahaha I love it. Yall are just hanging out in the car of a random family. Only in Disney is that not the creepiest thing I've ever heard! :rotfl: I love that the mom shared food with yall, aww!

YES! The flavored soda at Sci-Fi (and 50's) is so good. SO GOOD. Those movie clips are all just so ridiculously amusing! I was cracking up the whole time haha.

Hahah umm... nope don't recognize the Star Wars people! BUT I DO REMEMBER THAT GIRL! Oh my gosh yes! That's so Raven... ("It's the future I can see, it's so mysterious to me!") Oh my gosh old school Disney Channel was the best. Even Stevens, Lizzie McGuire, and That's So Raven. AND PHIL OF THE FUTURE. Okay sorry, anyways yay! Loved the update!

Tangled is such a great movie! :) Sci-Fi looks like fun. We might have to try it on our next trip. It would be weird to have strangers share their food with us but it was nice of that family.

I like Star Wars and I don't recognize any of those people.

Oh, and TR started. The link is in my signature. So far it's just intros.

TOY STORY MANIA :love::love::love::love::love:
Favorite ride of ALL time.

Tangled is my FAVORITE. Like... within my top 3 favorite movies of all time. I can't get enough of it!!

I LOVE Sci Fi. I went back there this past trip for my first time in YEARS... ah I love it so much!! There's just something about it that makes me hear happy :lovestruc

LOL if only I understood star wars... But it's cool to see the pictures!

I am so obsessed with Tangled. That movie is so underrated. I think it's just as good as the Disney classics. Eugene has now become my favorite Disney Prince.:love::love: Sigh...

YAY SCI FI! My fave. That is so awesome that the family in front of you shared their food. As much as I love Disney food I don't think I could handle the DxDP either.

THOSE CLIPS REMIND ME OF GREASE TOO! I love them!

Well I'm off to go read your other Sci Fi update. Ahh, Sci Fi everywhere! I love it!

I love Tangled! I let my friend borrow my DVD a few weeks ago, and I need to start nagging her to get it back, I HATE letting people borrow my Disney movies! :rotfl:

Haha, another Sci Fi update! You guys really love this place! :rotfl2: The one time we went there I really wanted that peanut butter cake, but I was so stuffed, we skipped dessert! That will never happen again!

OMG all those Star Wars characters and people! That's awesome! I love Star Wars, but I have to admit, I'd be more excited to meet the actual characters in their costumes than the people who played the characters. Unless it was Harrison Ford of course (Han Solo, in case you didn't know who he was in Star Wars!). I have no idea who Ashely played in the Clone Wars, but then again, I don't like the first 3 movies that much, I tend to stick with the classic 70's and 80's Star Wars!

Can't wait to read about DTD!

Haha thanks! I love Mean Girls! :goodvibes

I'm glad that stuff makes you laugh too, because it cracks us up! Being grown up is so overrated! ;)

I'm not even a Star Wars fan and I still really enjoy it! It's hard not to get excited about it when there's that much going on!

That's so neat that the family in front of you guys at Sci-Fi was so nice! That was nice of them to share their appetizers with you too. I'm so looking forward to eating at Sci-Fi on our trip (made reservations yesterday :woohoo:).

That family was so nice! I love making new friends! :goodvibes YAY for making your Sci Fi reservation! You're going to love it! :thumbsup2

It was a lot of fun, and it was so great seeing him have a good time! It was totally worth it! :lovestruc

Oh my gosh. Tangled. I'm OBSESSED with that movie. I have the biggest crush on Eugene, it's so ridiculous. I like to think of him as a real person and not a computer animated one. LOVE HIM and that movie.

Haha I totally understand your Eugene crush! He is very dreamy, and I wish he was a real person too! :goodvibes

Haha we were totally creeping in the back of that car. At one point John JOKINGLY held up his butter knife and made the Psycho "EEE, EEE, EEE" noise. It was creepy but hilarious. :rotfl:

I love the flavored soda! :lovestruc I want some right now!

AHH PHIL OF THE FUTURE. OMG Phil was so stinking cute, and I loved that caveman dude. What was his name again?

Tangled is such a great movie! :) Sci-Fi looks like fun. We might have to try it on our next trip. It would be weird to have strangers share their food with us but it was nice of that family.

I like Star Wars and I don't recognize any of those people.

Yes, Tangled is awesome! I love it! I think you would really enjoy Sci Fi! You should do it! :thumbsup2

Haha I think they were pretty B-list Star Wars celebs. Nothing too famous! ;)

I'm on board for your TR! I can't wait to read more!

Sci Fi is amazing! I love it so much!

Haha that's how I am with Star Wars too! :goodvibes

I totally agree about Tangled...definitely as good as the classics! :thumbsup2

That family was so sweet! John and I are so crazy that we're actually doing the DxDP again in July! We couldn't handle the food last time, so naturally we're going to try it again!

Haha aren't those clips the best?! They're just so Danny Zuko.

Sorry about the Sci Fi overload! Hopefully my TR events won't overlap like that again! Ughh I need to hurry up and finish this one!

I love Tangled! I let my friend borrow my DVD a few weeks ago, and I need to start nagging her to get it back, I HATE letting people borrow my Disney movies! :rotfl:

I'm the same way when I loan people my DVDs! I loaned Forrest Gump to one of my students like three weeks ago and I want it back NOW. I hardly ever even watch it, but I'm stressing out not having it!

Seriously, it's been like Sci Fi overload in my TRs lately! :lmao:

Haha if Harrison Ford had been there that would have had even me excited! The stars that were there were pretty B-list I think, but John was still thrilled!

Lying in bed with the laptop, surfing the DIS, and watching the Good Luck Charlie: It’s Christmas movie. Pretty much a perfect Monday night, I think. :goodvibes Good Luck Charlie is just about the only Disney Channel show I can tolerate at the moment. I don’t mean to be negative, but Shake it Up and A.N.T Farm drive me crazy. Austin and Ally has potential, but I’m not fully sold yet. They just don’t make them like they used to. Yes, I am an almost-25-year-old woman sitting here reviewing Disney Channel shows. I’m awesome.

Okay, on to the update! When I left off we were finishing our very busy morning at DHS and heading back to the resort for a little break. John and I are super lame and sometimes we just can’t help but take naps at Disney, and this was one of those times I’m afraid. I couldn’t help it! I sat down on the bed to watch Stacey, and the next thing I knew I was waking up in a state of panic. (OH MY GOD WHY AM I NAPPING?!? I’M AT DISNEY!! – You know, that sort of thing.) The nap was much needed, however, and I felt fully refreshed and ready to continue with my day!

I woke John up and he decided that he had a “gross nap” and needed a shower. Do you ever have those, or is that just a Russell thing? :confused3 It’s one of those naps where you wake up feeling sticky and sweaty and overall disgusting. I dunno, I do it too, but that doesn’t necessarily make it not-weird. We're two peas in a very strange pod.

Anyway, while John was showering I went to see if I could spot any animals around the resort.

AnniversaryTrip457.jpg

AnniversaryTrip458.jpg

A Thompson’s gazelle! Isn’t that what they’re called? They always remind me of that computer game Zoo Tycoon. I used to play the heck out of that game, and I always had like a million of those little guys running around.

Before long John was ready and we were on our way to an evening at Downtown Disney! After our nap we were both feeling really hungry. It had only been about three hours since or lunch, but we were STARVING! We decided to go to one of our favorite spots- EARL OF SANDWICH!! AKA- The best sandwich shop on planet Earth. I’d have to argue that Firehouse Subs is second, but seeing as how it is not Disney food that makes it a very distant second.

John went into to get the food, and while he was gone I went into sneaky mode and went over to the pin shop to buy him a present. What did I buy him, you ask?

AnniversaryTrip461.jpg

Nope, not that. That was for me! :cutie: Hehe. I got John…

AnniversaryTrip462.jpg

A Vinylmation! John had been eyeballing these things since we arrived. Let me tell you a little something about my husband: he will collect ANYTHING. I’m not joking, literally anything. Like, he has a sock full of quarters in his drawer that he calls a “collection”. Not special quarters or anything, just quarters. He has a collection of guns, action figures, DVDs, baseball and basketball cards, Star Wars memorabilia, other random movie memorabilia, video game memorabilia, and so on and so on. HE LOVES TO COLLECT. Now I can’t say anything, because I am an avid Disney pin collector, and I also collect Jim Shore figurines. However, that’s pretty much the extent of my collections.

Anyway, long story not-so-short, John had been very interested in the Vinylmations. He had been putting off buying one so far, so I figured I’d surprise him by getting him one!

When he got back I gave him his surprise! He was so excited. So which one did he get?

AnniversaryTrip464.jpg

Wheezy! Look at him, posing with John’s Cannonball sub. How cute!

AnniversaryTrip463.jpg

I got my favorite EoS choice- the All American! YUM!

Okay so here’s a funny story. Here I am, enjoying the Florida sunshine and eating my delicious sandwich when I heard something thud into the ground next to my table. I look over casually, and what do I see but a DEVIL BUG FROM HADES. :scared1: I’m not even kidding, this thing was terrifying. Okay, seriously? One of my favorite things about Disney World is that for some odd reason I hardly ever see bugs (except for the time a bee flew in my mouth at AK) and here before me was a nightmarish creature that looked like it was from another planet. Somehow the little fool had critically wounded himself when he smashed into the ground at 90 mph, so he was flipping around all over the ground right by my foot. Naturally I spazzed out and lost my mind, basically dancing around the table and screaming, until John stepped on it. UGHHH WORST NOISE EVER. I have never heard a bug crunch like that. EVER. I still thing about it and shudder. It was like a normal bug crunch noise amplified x100. Then John had to scrape bug guts off his shoe. Needless to say I lost my appetite pretty quickly. Plus I wanted to get the heck out of there before any of his brethren showed up to seek revenge.

We hightailed it away from EoS, and John was already itching to trade his first Vinylmation! We went back into the pin store so he could try out trading!

It was so cool! I felt like he was on a mini game show.

So, who did he end up with?

AnniversaryTrip466.jpg

Hamm! Yay! I love Hamm, but I am still kind of bitter toward him for how quick he was to condemn Woody in Toy Story. UM, HELLO? What happened to innocent until proven guilty, ya porker?! Anyway…

We continued on our Downtown Disney adventure! First, I ‘ooh-ed’ and ‘ahh-ed’ over the amazing window displays at Tren-D!

Next we decided to check out the Art of Animation store. John saw a giant Vinylmation and had to have his picture taken with it.

Word to the wise- that thing is hollow, so don’t lean on it. We learned that lesson the hard way. :rolleyes1

John saw another trading opportunity and just couldn’t resist!

It was already obvious that I had created a monster. John was a Vinylmation trading fool! This time he ended up with…

AnniversaryTrip472.jpg

The Fairy Godmother! So cute! John wasn’t too excited because she was too “girly,” so he was anxious to find another place to trade. We ended up going into the World of Disney for a while. It was SUPER crowded, so we didn’t stay very long.

Next we decided to go to the candy store so I could get a treat for later!

AnniversaryTrip473.jpg

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like this place is always SO crowded! I only wanted a candy apple, but it ended up taking me like twenty minutes to get it! Still, it was nice smelling all the delicious goodies while I waited in line.

After I got my candy apple we decided to make our way over to the other side of Downtown Disney. It was starting to get late and I was getting really tired, but John wanted to go in D-Street before we left, so I had time for a few more pictures.

I thought that picture was very Stacey-ish, like when she’s wearing the blue dress and talking about how awesome DTD is. You see it too, right?

AnniversaryTrip475.jpg

See, I can be hyper like Stacey! YAY! :hyper: Haha actually I was so tired at this point, which I think is pretty evident in that picture. John traded his Vinylmation again but I was too tired to even take a picture. I think he got one of the Villains, but I can’t be sure. I was ready to go to bed!

Once we got back to the room I ate my candy apple, updated my TR journal, took a shower, and turned in!

Yummy! Sweet dreams to me!
