Our flight home yesterday (Sunday) into Dulles was cancelled. We couldn't get another flight for two more days. We had been in a BLT MKV studio. They didn't have any more MKV rooms, but they were able to accomodate us in a BLV! We basically moved across the hall. (I love the flexibility DVC offers.)

A side benefit is I was able to watch the space shuttle launch this morning (at 4:14am) from the dock at the Contemp!

I'm in VA and woke up so early worrying about how to get to work and this post made me smile....what a treat to see the space shuttle, and glad to hear you were taken care of so well :)

Great! I'm glad the space shuttle went up! Here's hoping Jean and her DH got to finally see one too!

Bobbi:goodvibes

If you have to be stuck anywhere for two days, then I would say, you are stuck in fabulous place! Enjoy your bonus time. :goodvibes

Enjoy! I was almost in the same position. We flew home on Jan. 30 into Dulles during a snowstorm and thought we would be extending too. I had already planned to call DVC, plus there were rooms with AP discounts available too. But Jetblue was one of the few carriers that did not cancel and we got home ontime. But I had all of my options open and was prepared. It was the first time I've ever landed on a snow packed runway and Dulles was empty when we got there. OP, please keep aware that we are expecting up to another 10 inches of snow Tuesday night, which may change your plans further! Have a safe trip home whenever that may be!

Maybe you got one of our rooms (that would make me feel a bit better)...yesterday we had to cancel two BLT studios because we couldn't get out of DC to get there...we were supposed to arrive Sunday, got rebooked for today, then today's flight canceled, too...no open seats til Wed, and we had to be back Fri morning, so we canceled...

I'm glad you "got stuck" there instead of here, and hopefully all of us who can't get there this week will be a bit comforted by knowing our rooms are now available for those of you who can't get back!

You may want to try and keep that room until Friday! Great that you got to watch the shuttle lift of! Enjoy your added days - believe me - they beat the snow we are looking at here.

You are lucky getting "stuck" in WDW and at BLT, glad DVC could work with you! My dh flew into Dulles this morning and said WHOA about the snow there.

Cool about the shuttle launch too, how fun!

This happened to us over MLK weekend in 08 when we had connections through Atlanta and they had snow there. Only there were no DVC rooms and the only rooms available were BC CL or GF CL. We paid rack rate of $650 a night for each of the two rooms for two nights at BC CL (we had been staying at BCV).

Ouch! No help from MS for that? I would be calling the Days Inn before I'd pay that.

DCfromVA -- I am sure that you are really "sad" being stuck at BLT instead of being at home and shoveling snow. :rotfl: I hope that everything works out tomorrow and that you will have a safe flight home. In the meantime ... enjoy this bonus time!:cool2:

:scared1: Thanks for the heads up about the snow. (This snow season has been crazy this year.) My family suggested I stay longer, too. :). (Oh, I can't wait until I am retired in another year!)

Yes, it has been increased to up to 15 inches now starting this afternoon...so are you coming home today?

BTW -- the Federal Government is closed again this morning!!! Two days now. Gotta love free days off! I'm sure the USG will reopen tomorrow, but I guess it will depend on tonights/tomorrows snowstorm!

I'm in the panhandle of WV and with 30+ inches of snow still on the ground, what does another 12 inches matter....except my DH doesn't know where he's going to put it as the walls around our driveway are nearly 5 ft now!

I retire this year from the USG! My next trip is March 6th at the BCV and I sure hope the snow is gone by then (3+ weeks).

I am scheduled to leave on Amtrak Thursday morning. I am going to stop in Charleston, SC to see my dad. Mind you Dad is still here. He has been trying to get home since Friday. never know, we may end up on the same train. Now the problem is this darned snow. He is scheduled to leave tomorrow at 3:15pm. I don't see that happening. That is smack dab in the middle of the storm.

I have been trying to explain to my son why we might be able to go. You try explaining that to a 10 year old. :scared1:

So I am praying :worship: we get out of NY no later than Saturday night. My train from SC leaves at 5am. Might be on that same train from NY if we leave Sat night.

So all who are trying to get to WDW during this mess. Safe travels and hope we all get there.

So what did Disney charge you? Did you have more points or did you pay cash?

We used 34 points. :). (Lucky we had 28 points from the current UY, so we had to borrow 6).....
