Stuck in my house

Yes...I'm really stuck in my house! DH and I were going out to dinner last night and the outside doorknob fell off when we were locking the door (old condo). We stuck the knob back in with the idea of fixing it this weekend. This morning, DH was able to leave for work as normal, but when I tried to open the door and go out, all the knob does is turn!

SO.....now I'm stuck in the house waiting for DGF (Dear Grandfather) to come over and let me out! He was nice enough to volunteer when DH was thinking about taking the day off to come home and let me out and fix it. I'll never hear the end of it at work.

Yay!! Contact with the outside world!!! He's on his way right now. Poor guy...he went to my Mom's house. I have a sister who still lives with our parents (she's a young teen) and my Dad and husband have the same name. So....when my mom called him and told him that his granddaughter was stuck in the house, but had let "insert Dad's and hubby's name here" out this morning, he figured it was my sister that was stuck in the house. So he went there to save her.

So, now he's coming here to save me. Do I have the best DGF or what?

I know this is not funny right now, but I had to laugh. I can only imagine your co-workers wondering why you cant leave your house...........

Believe me, I'm , too!! To make it worse, where I work there's only maybe 9 or 10 employees, so it's sort of like a family (complete with the annoying brother and cool cousin and funny aunt and stuff). So when I say I'll never hear the end of it from them- I mean it!!!

This happened to us about a year ago. The doorknob on the door leading to the garage wouldn't open- it was stuck. We could get out the other doors but the garage door was down too so we couldn't go anywhere. My dad drove an hour to come over and help us. It was kind of embarrassing.

so you don't feel so bad... my mom lives in my rental. It has a 5 car garage behind the duplex. The garage has no doors other than the garage doors...so when the electric goes out...they can't get their cars in or out. Everyone says...just pull the cord....Yeah, no problem...if you can get IN the garage to do that !!!! She's had to call off work... I can't get my car out of the garage, the electric is out hope your day is now better that grandfather came to your rescue!

Well...I'm at work now...fortunately the laughter didn't last tooo horribly long. It helps that not everyone is here today. We're getting a new doorknob tomorrow.
