Hi.
My family and I went to Disneyland on Friday Dec 9th and we got stuck in there for awhile. Main Street was packed with people wanting to exit the park, but no one was moving. Does anyone know what happened?

I don't know what happened, but I was stuck in that mess with you! I even saw some CMs wheeling a strecher out from the locker area towards the Emporium, so it looks like the crouds caused some casualties. I won't be going on a Friday night again until after the holidays are over!

We were there too. What a mess! I don't think anything in particular happened, except for the crowds and very poor crowd control. I posted on another thread that we were constantly re-routed by CMs (one would say "head to the right to enter the park" only to be met by another CM who would say we should go left, or use the street which made no sense since it was full of people wanting to watch the fireworks). The CMs and security people in our area looked really freaked out. At one point we got stuck in the alley next to Plaza Inn and tried to enter the store next to it (can't remember the name), but they shut the door in my face and said no one could enter anymore.

It was similarly crowded Wednesday night. Not as bad as Friday, but also quite messy for a weekday.

Perhaps the stretchers were the reason for the hold-up - rather than a need caused by them?

I just got back from DL. You're right, it was sooooooo Crowded!! I have never seen so many people smushed together in one place. It was so packed.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared: :faint:

The jam affected us (DH & me) too. We felt like salmon swimming upstream when we were re-entering the park.

I have a picture somewhere from last year that shows the crowd. It was a sea of heads! We also were packed in like sardines and they had to open the back/cm area for people leaving the park.

I read on another site that it was a Perfect Storm of crowd collisions. Combine the people coming from the Electrical Parade in DCA with the crowd from the Hub heading home after the Snow Fall and a large mass of people trying to get to the beginning of Fantasmic and you end up with gridlock on Main Street. The stretchers were for a couple of people who suffered panic attacks from the overcrowding. There was even a couple of 911 calls for help from 'trapped' guests. I was at the parks on Wednesday night and ended up going from the Teacups to DCA just as the 2nd Xmas parade was ending and got routed backstage at the Coke Pavillion and came out at the Emporium. (if I can find the link to the original article, I'll post it here)

I'm not sure that was the situation. We came from DCA that night, and Electrical Parade wasn't running (I think it started up later in the month). Also, this happened before the fireworks and before the snow, so that wasn't the hold up either.
