Hi all, currently we (ds8 and I) have reservations for the fantasmic package w/eating at H&V (have not ate there before)-

I kinda want to go to Sci Fi again (though we have been there the past 2 years) and I know my son would not mind either of the places.

Do you think the fantasmic package is worth it, or shoud we just eat at or more fave (I thin) sci fi , and wiat in line, we are going in early Oct and dont expect the fantasmic line to be too bad, just like when we went the last 2 years.

Which would you pick and why?

we always ate at lunch for Sci Fi - looking at the dinner menu I find it rather limited :confused3 . So I might stick with H&V any thoughts?

In April we did the Fantasmic Dinner package at H & V. It was the only BAD meal of our entire trip. I would not do it again, even for the package. We went with low expectations, and still we were disgusted.
The place was dirty - dirty unbussed tables surrounded us, the Ladies Room was disgusting, the only dirty one I saw all week.
The food was lukewarm at best. The Flank Steak tasted funny. Nothing was really good except the salad and bread. The desert area was good.
We were a party of 5 and everyone was very disappointed.
I would do Sci Fi and wait in line, next time we will.

I've been twice now; once during P-Week with FDP, and once the week after P-Week without it. We generally avoided EMH days at MGM, so even during P-Week it wasn't super super busy.

I think if you'd rather eat at Sci Fi, that you should go ahead and do it. We easily got GREAT seats an hour in advance without the plan, and with the plan they ask you to get there 30 minutes early---when we did, there were still seats in the "regular" section of the theater, and this was during P-Week.

So, for me, the question would be: is it worth waiting an extra 30 minutes if I can eat in a restaurant I want to eat in?

Your son will enjoy Fantasmic, so I'd go with a package and not worry about a line. Try one of the other restaurants like Mama's, 50's, or the Brown Derby.

I would go to Sci-fi if you have enjoyed it there.

We had the MM fantasmic package and the food was awful. Wont even consider eating there ever.

I am wondering if Fantasmic will be really packed the 2nd week of August---or am I just thinking it will be that because of the DDP?

I am seeing bad Mamma Melrose reveiws and don't want to risk getting a cruddy meal the first night we are there!

I have decided on Sci fi (for sure this time lol)

becuase we are doing crystal palce dinner the night before, and the CM when I called said the buffet is almost the same :confused3

so I did not want to do the same meal 2 times in a row

I'm debating this same thing. I booked H&V because we're going in Sept. during free dining and I was afraid CS lines would be long, as would Fantasmic. But I'm not really looking forward to it.

We were there during free diding last year too (though did not know about it lol and paid full price for the plan :sad2: )

the line up for fantasmic was not too bad, and there was plenty of sets left at the start of the show. I say go with the food choice YOU want!

I voted for Sci - Fi over H & V (worst food we had on our 8/2005 trip), but would choose Mama Melrose first and then 50's Prime Time over Sci- Fi.

I voted "other" because I have never been to H&V, but we went to Sci-Fi last year and I was very unimpressed. First, the setup of the restaurant was cool but not easy with an infant...we had nowhere to put him! And there was so little room for our food on the "tables" too. I suppose we could've eaten at one of the tables but my kids really wanted to sit in the cars.

Secondly, I thought that the food was mediocre. We were there for lunch and I was definitely expecting more. My bil and sil had the dessert and they said it was really good, but the food wasn't that great.

Thirdly, it is REALLY loud and it felt to me like I was in a warehouse.

Anyway, just wanted to share. What about going to Mama Melrose for dinner w/ Fantasmic?

We used H&V this past january for the fantasmic package. H&V's food was mediocre at best (I'm being very kind). Sci-fi's food was a little better, but the atmosphere is wonderful.

We used our package tickets to get our reserved section and really, I thought anyplace in the theatre was as good a seat as what we had. Things didn't really crowd up until 15 minutes prior to the show starting.
