Stuck and looking for help

Hello Everyone,
We are quickly approaching our 180 days!!! Which means dining reservations!!! So excited. I am looking for help. We are going to puchase the dining plan. That being said we have never eaten at any of the Hollywood Studio restaurants before. We have two children one being a teenager and our youngest being 7. My 7 year old is EXTREMELY picky. I have been looking at Sci-fi Dine in and the 50's Prime Time Cafe for one of my choices. However, I keep reading reviews and one review will say the food was ok, the next says the food at Sci-fi is horrible. I am nervous about trying it. What have your experiences been like with these two restaurants? Would you choose one of these restaurants over the Plaza Resturant? We ate there the last time and it wasn't anything fancy but we enjoyed ourselves. Thank you in advance for your help!!!

You will find wildly variable reviews about everywhere in WDW. Don't overthink it. Go where the menu and theme appeals.

I would choose either Sci-Fi or 50sPT over The Plaza, particularly 50sPT.

My family didn't like Sci-Fi at all, mostly because my kids were 5 & 2 at the time and movie they were playing didn't interest them (or me). Also it is dim at best, and food was not good at all.
I tried The Plaza last fall, and it was OK. My husband liked banana split, but he likes any icecream anyway. Now we really like 50's Prime Time, and we go there every trip. I like the fried chicken and shake is just so good.

50's Prime Time Cafe - We LOVE this place and we eat there on every single trip. The fried chicken dinner is very good.
Sci-Fi - We like this place as well. We don't find the food to be as good as the other place. It wasn't bad at all, it was just ok. The thing about this place is the atmosphere. Great atmosphere with just ok food.

Just go with whichever menu looks like it will have something for your picky eater. You'll never get a consistent thumbs up or down for any restaurant. Which is completely understandable. All you can expect is opinion, and that is something that is based only on personal expectations and preferences.

As an example: there are actually people who like the food at H&V and CMs. This is something I find completely incomprehensible. FTR, we really like PTC and think Sci Fi is OK.

I would pick Sci Fi over 50's or The Plaza. The food isn't bad and the experience is definitely something different than what is offered in our area.
I wouldn't sweat the reviews a ton - you are going to find tons of conflicting ones out there. Look at the menus and see what appeals to your family and then go from there!

My family has eaten at all three of those restaurants and never had a problem with the food. My thoughts on the Plaza are much the same as yours, OP. It's not fancy, but decent food and worth a visit. What you'll get at Sci Fi and 50's is enhanced theming, especially at 50's. My family has grown tied of the shtick at 50's and the last visit the service only so-so. But food wise it was good. Since you've never been to Sci Fi or 50's, give them a try just for the experience.

I have eaten at sci-Fi and 50's Primetime. I thought 50's was better.

We love The Plaza and eat here every trip. We at at Sci-Fi once and would never go back. It was too dark and the food wasn't very good. I've never eaten at 50s, but that menu doesn't appeal to us.
