When is the best time to buy tickets on Stubhub? The concert I am going to is exactly 7 days away. (typically we purchase tickets as soon as they go on sale, but I was somewhat undecided).

The venue is pretty small and I am going alone, I don't mind a "bad seat". Should i buy this weekend or wait until a day or two before the event for the best price?

While I am looking forward to the show it is not an "ABSOLUTE MUST SEE" and if for some reason allll of the tickets on Stubhub sell out I will be disappointed but not crushed.

If you can, wait until the very last minute before you must leave to go to the event. Ticket prices drop SIGNIFICANTLY hours or even minutes before the events take place. Some venues even let you use a mobile ticket meaning you can buy the ticket minutes before you enter the venue. My husband works in the ticket industry so I've become very aware of how this all works.

Have you confirmed this event is not selling on Goldstar, Groupon, Living Social or Travelzoo? They typically sell for a lot cheaper than Stubhub with all of their crazy fees.

Don't just look at StubHub also check with Ticketmaster. In the days leading up to and even the day of TM may do some ticket drops. I have seen tickets scattered through the venue to tickets right up front. Scored a 4th row seat for Jimmy Buffett a few years back 3 days before the show. I have friends who always get seats in the first few rows by waiting until right before the show to get them, granted it's not guaranteed but the odds are always in their favor it seems. Even walked up to the venue window 4 hours before the show and scored a front row seats right beside the stage for Reba McIntire-Brooks and Dunn.

Good Luck

Thanks. Ticketmaster shows "limited seats available" but then when you get into the site it says no tickets available. Do you think more appear? Where do they come from?

Most venues hold seats for various reasons. Sports teams, especially during the playoffs, have to hold seats for the visiting team, the league etc. Any that aren't used are then released, often with no announcement a few days to the day of the event.

For concerts I would imagine it could be the promoter, record label, the artist etc. I worked for a sports team in ticketing, so I'm not as familiar with who it would be with concerts, but probably something like this.

Venues will often hold on to a small amount in case a problem comes up and they need to move someone, or they will hold on to handicap seats in case they need to move someone. These seats will get released as well, to whomever buys them.

There's generally no rhyme or reason to when tickets will get released. Also, if an event you want sells out quickly, keep checking for the next 30-60 minutes or more because as peoples credit cards decline, or there are problems with their card, the tickets will get released.

We have bought tickets from Stubhub on our way to a sporting event less than an hour before the game. We were able to get club seats that included an all you can eat buffet for less than regular seats would have been if we purchased them the day before.

I love last minute ticket deals on StubHub. I have a hard time making myself wait, but when I have the self-control, some amazing deals can be found an hour (or less) before the event starts

Exactly. I got the great seats for Reba as the promoter had released them. The stage was not as wide as expected was what I was told.

The Red Sox have tickets they release on game day only for sold out games. Sometimes there are only maybe 50 seats other times it could be a few hundred.

In 2001 I traveled from BOS to NYC to see Jimmy Buffett do a benefit at MSG for 9-11. A couple days before he released a couple thousand tickets. It flooded the market and the scalpers took a bath.

I mostly buy hockey tickets on Stubhub for DH and DS. Most often, the day of a few hours prior. Tickets drop the closer to the event because just want to get something instead of 0.
