Just a note to say I had a fantastic view of the space shuttle launch on Monday morning thanks to SpaceShuttleLaunchTours.com They picked me up from the Disney Swan hotel, our tour guide Sylvie was really nice lady and the view from their VIP causeway tour was awesome!!

I just saw on their website you can pre order tickets for the next launch which is a daytime launch on May 14th. I am going to come back for this launch for sure.

SpaceShuttleLaunchTours.com use Gray Line buses but they are a few pound cheaper when you book through them.

I would recomend if you are in Disney in May 14th you definately buy tickets as there are only 3 lift offs left.

Any photo's John? :)

I would like to do this but it's an expensive day if the shuttle is postponed. Did the last one launch on time?

Hi There, it went off on time on Monday morning, however if it had not gone off on Monday morning then we could have come back for $35, or if it had cancelled for instance on Sunday for a date that we were no longer in Orlando I would have go a $20 credit voucher and a trip to Kennedy Space Center on Monday...... as I left to come back to the UK on Tuesday if it had reschedueled to a date I had returned from holiday then I would have still had my trip to Kennedy Space Center whcih is definately worth the visit.

I have signed up on the presale for the next launch - I am defafinaltey going to go back for a few days to see it next month. There are only 3 left so I want to try and see them as soon they will only be history.....

If it rescheduels more then 72 hours in advnace of the tour then SpaceShuttleLaunchTours.com will let you reshcuedle for the new date for free or have 100% refund - so that is good. If it cancels within 3 days of lift of you can pay $35 to reschuedle or take the tour to Kennedy Space Center with the $20 credit voucher. It was very good, I saw other sites that made you lose 10% regardless or no cancel within 7 days etc. The policy they had was very fair.

If you are considering I would say do it, it was so worth while. I have some great photos I will try to post later when my camera is fully charged up :)

Good for you, weve planned too many hols around launches only to be dissapointed, we dont even bother anymore.

This is really interesting... we are considering this for the July launch.

We are in Orlando from 21st July to 10th August but are non drivers so need a package that collects us from Orlando and takes us back again!

My DS16 REALLY WANTS to see this launch but I am just not sure whether its worth it, if it gets cancelled.

I cannot really afford to lose the nearly £200 it will cost me to take my DS and DD14.

Other posts have said that from the Orlando area it is still visible to see the shuttle going up, and its all a good build on the TV, but can you really see anything from a hotel an hour away??!!!

Mmmmm.... decisions, decisions

I really dont know what to do with this!

xx

There was a thread a while back where people posted up details of free viewing area's to watch the launch from, maybe this would be a better option than buying tickets :goodvibes

Space View park in Titusville seems a popular place.
If the July launch gets delayed....I will hopefully go there in August

I did a search for "order space shuttle tickets" and this is one of the related threads so my reply is...

DS13 and I witnessed the Space Shuttle Discovery "night" Launch on April 5, 2010 at 6:21AM EDT from NASA Causeway launch viewing site about 6 miles to the launch pad for general public.

"Once in a lifetime experiences!!!” besides Space View Park, Titusville, FL and nearby areas.

Remember sound travels slower than light, you won’t hear the engines roaring sound about 20-25 seconds after takeoff from about 6 miles out.

The Ustream video was recorded with iPhone 3G [my LEFT hand] streaming LIVE for disboards.com community while [my RIGHT hand] with Sony Hard Disk Drive (HDD) camcorder on a tripod for close-up/zoom where DVDs burned for personal/home entertainment.

Do whatever it takes to go see one since three more day launches left in 2010 and then the space shuttle program will be retired!!

we went to the space park in titusville and it was great view and we didnt have to pay

I'm aware of Space View Park and nearby FREE areas.

DS13 and I witnessed STS-131 on April 05, 2010 from NASA Causeway.

I even setup my DIRECTV DVR via my iPhone 3G (DIRECTV apps) for NASA TV the morning of STS-131 launch around 6:00AM. We watched it on Panasonic Plasma...just not the "same experiences" except few good camera angles.

Space View Park is not the same once you experience NASA Causeway is about 6 miles to the launch pad vs. Space View Park is about 12 miles to the launch pad.

We wish we could be in the count down clock area 3 miles to the launch pad with the press, NASA families/friends, and high ranked officials.
