I am really struggling today. I started last week with a good start. Motivitaed, positive, energized. Then wehn I bought the new scale, I got really down when it weighed me 12 lbs higher than my old scales and my body fat - well let's not even talk about that.

Well the since Friday am (new scales), I gained a pound. Even though I ate more than twice a day, I didn't binge

The weekend was tough. I felt our of sync. I did not walk and was not able to stick to the two times a day caloric intakes. I did OK with my fluids.

I just am feeling bad. I have been on target today. Getting ready to walk in a few minutes, but I feel like I got the blues:(

Any tips for getting beyond this point.

Sorry you're having such a hard time with this. :(

Are you following a specific diet plan? Knowing what you're trying to follow might make it a little easier to figure out why it's not working. Maybe I missed a previous post of yours -- what is the reason you are limiting yourself to two meals per day?

I hope you're feeling better, and take it from some of the rest of us who have also learned the hard way -- DON'T be a slave to the scale! If you can, just weigh yourself ONCE per week. There are too many variables and if you weigh yourself all the time, you'll (literallly) be going through a lot of highs and lows.

;)

I have vertical banding Oct 2001. Dr. rules are two caloric intakes a day. I am trying to follow what he has prescribed.

The banding was not successful thus far. I have really been trying to follow his plan.

To me it is a mind thing. I don't knwo why I just can't keep my will power high.

I'm really sorry that you are struggling. I hope you continue to hang in there and things get easier for you soon. I also know how depressing it can be to get a new scale that weighs you heavier (same thing happened to me last month) but on the upside- it's better to be weighed accurately and eventually you'll see the bodyfat % going down also. :)

I still say that you should get a 2nd opinion. This is the first time I've EVER heard of someone with gastric bypass or stomach banding being told to limit themselves to 2 meals a day. I still say that makes NO SENSE since you have a smaller stomach and the dr's usually say to eat MORE -yet smaller- meals per day than the norm- which is atleast 3 meals per day. But that's just my opinion. I understand wanting to do what your dr says, I just think he's wrong and expecting way too much of you. You can't possibly be getting enough calories/nutrients in 2 meals when you also have a smaller stomach and unable to eat bigger meals. :(

His belif is that you should eat bulky food that take a long time to process therefore you feel full for a long time. I just get hungry all of the time.

This is exactly why I refuse to buy a new scale. I know that I would have reacted exactly as you have to the supposed 12 pound gain.

Keep in mund that whatever you had lost on the old scale, you more than likely actually did lose. So you are ahead even if it seems you're behind.

It's all a mind thing. This is good advice, but I really would have reacted exactly the same way. Hope you feel better soon.

I think anyone would get hungry all the time if they could only eat 2 meals AND at the same time their stomach was smaller so they couldn't eat much bigger meals. So don't beat yourself up about that- I think that's completely normal! :(

I think that I have figured out at least a little bit of a solution for myself. Although I was feeling a lot like Eyeore today (nice and gloomy) I still pushed myself to walk. I walked three mile in about 50-55 minutes.

I don't know if it was the walk, the Worship Together CD I listen to, probably a combination of both. I feel significantly better, not as good as I want to feel, but definitely better.

I am planning on walking in the am before work.

Thanks for all the support. I probably would not have pushed myself.

Kathy, I am glad you are feeling better!! You sound much better in your last post, so the walk must have done wonders for you!! :) :)

Hugs to you!! :)

You sound so much better than you did earlier.

THROW that scale away! What is the dr having you eat? I don't know how you are managing on just 2 meals a day.

2 meals a day does not sound right to me either - I am always in favor of a second opinon and in this case I really think you should - just to be sure.

To be thinner to fit in smaller size clothes to go bathing suit shopping and not say "YUK" - are some of the reasons I am trying to stay on program but...
I too bought a new scale almost 2weeks ago and also found it to add weight to me - so I stuck with my old user friendly scale until I did my initial weigh in at WW and realized the new scale was right:( - But I know that the number on the scale does not define who I am - and neither should you - its a number - it tells us what we weigh - it does not measure our inner beauty and worth!
:D

I'm sorry that I didn't get to WISH much yesterday :( I missed this.

I'm glad you found a way to feel better. Don't beat yourself up over what happened over the weekend. It's done and gone now, you can't change.

Focus on right now. Right now you are track and doing great.

Don't give up. Isn't it great to have WISH to turn to on days like yesterday? It is such a comfort.

{{HUGS}} my friend.

Katholyn
