Strolling to South Harbor Blvd

Hi everyone,
We're staying at the Disneyland Hotel, but want to head over to South Harbor occasionally for breakfast at IHOP or one of the other restaurants there. Does anyone know if the thoroughfare through the Downtown Disney and between the entry gates be open in the morning (like 6.30-7am) to facilitate easy passage?

"Entry gates" is too strong a word. There is a security check on each side of the Esplanade. Depending on what time the parks are open the security folks will try and keep you from passing through. If you happened to be passing at this time you would have to talk to them. If it was me I would just do this and suspect they would be fine to let you pass through to the other side.
