Does anyone have information about the type of stroller where one kid sits in the front and another can stand (facing the same direction) or sit in the back? My DD's are 5 and 8 and I am thinking one of those might be useful on the long days at WDW. Thanks in advance for any helpful information. :bounce:

I have this stroller but I don't think the 5 yo will fit in the front unless he/she is small. I have a 4 yo and she is too big for the front. :(

I dont have it but Ive been looking into getting one. Its by Baby Trend can called Sit and Stand. Theres a new one out that is a compact version of the large one. There are reviews on the Babies r Us site too. Several people have complained about how difficult it is to fold it, and it breaking. Ive seen people with one at WDW and our zoo, and theyve never had problems with it. There is a weight and height restriction. My 2 yo is pretty tall and might not fit in the standing area. Id like to try one out before buying it. Let me know what you find out about it if you get one, especially the compact one.

I have one of these that I bought a couple of years ago at a garage sale for $20. I have a 3.5 y.o and a 6 y.o. and am taking it for them. I think unless the 5 y.o. is quite small for their age they would be too big to sit in the front and the 8 y.o. (again unless really small) would be too heavy to push on the back. I make my 6 y.o. mostly walk and only ride occasionally when he's really pooped because it gets too heavy (especially on an incline!).

I just think your kids are too old. It's more for toddlers and preschoolers.

Good luck!

Hi,
We took our 7-year old nephew a couple of years ago and he did just fine without a stroller so you're older one will probably do ok without one.

Just so you're aware, I found this "buggy board" you add on to the back of your single stroller. I haven't personally used it, but thought it looked interesting. You may want to do a google and see if you find any reviews on line. This site only had one review, but it was positive. It does say the weight limit is 66lbs., so it may not work for your 8 year old.

description from web site:
KiddyBoard/Buggy Board
Now tired tots can hitch a ride. Older siblings love their independence, but sometimes they run out of steam. The solution? Our clever wheeled platform--just hitch it to the back of your stroller or carriage. Another fine example of Swedish engineering, with a wheel suspension system for a safe, smooth ride. Folds out of your way when not in use. Kiddyboard is just for pram-style strollers, with designed-to-fit curves and easy, rear-axle connector. BuggyBoard fits all style strollers (with or without rear axles), thanks to its new universal connector. Ages 2 and up, to a maximum of 66 lbs.

HTH! Have a magical trip.

Just want to see if anyone else has input about the ease of folding this type of stroller (esp. getting on WDW buses) I was considering renting one of these from ABBF for our 4 and almost 5 y/o (they are both alittle under 40 lbs). Last fall we rented a double stroller and it seemed like we were forever lifting them in and out--which I guess now thinking about it, has its pros and cons.
I'd appreciate anymore input!!
Thanks--going back the end of May!!

We have the buggy board on our single Maclaren. It will fit any stroller. My wife uses it for short trips and likes it.

I have the Sit and Stand stroller by Baby Trend and used it on our last trip to Disney in November. I had a 13 month old, my DD turned 4 while she was there my DS was 6. Most of the time the baby rode in the front while DD4 sat in the back. We hung the diaper bad over the handles and she used that to rest her head on. My DD is very tall and weighs 48 lbs. She would occaisionally climb in the front while the baby wanted to be held and DS sat in the back. She didn't complain of being uncomfortably but did need help getting out. When she and DS were both in it , it was very difficult to push but not impossible. It was nice to have somewhere for them both to sit. It is not at all hard to fold up. Just a little big but no big deal. No one complained on the busses. I figured for what it would cost to rent a double stroller for over a week, I could do something nicer with the money. If I were only going for one day, I would consider renting. We have a single stroller but when we go back in May, we're definitely taking the double. It's a little more difficult to push but that's because it's bigger. It's really not that big of a deal to be. If it helps you decide, my son weighs about 50 lbs. so I was pushing almost 100 when they were both riding but I think you'll find your son won't want to ride that much. Mine just wanted to occaisionally ride for a break. (You might do ok with a single stroller and swap off for a while.) Good luck and have fun!

By the way, it's really easy to step off the back of this stroller - it's just a platform and a seat. I never strap my kids in the back. They are big enough that they wont fall off - I'm standing right in front of them and the handles kind of box them in on the sides. The front has a hard plastic rim so you might have to help get in and out of that one.

Thanks for the feedback. I've already decided that DH gets to push that stroller, since I get dibs on our 3y/o in her little umbrella stroller ;) . I'm still even debating with myself if we need the double. My two older ones are troopers when walking--they did great back in September. I have another 6 weeks to decide.

We will be using our sit and stand for our June trip for my 14 month old and 4 yo girls. We use this a lot at the mall and around the neighborhood.
I am a 6'1" guy that doesn't have any problems pushing this with a kid sitting in the back. I have a long stride and don't kick the back of the stroller. Very nice!

I'd take the double stroller and leave the umbrella on at home. You can put the 3 yo in the front and the others take turns in the back. Plus, I like the storage in the double - umbrella strollers tip over when the kids get off. Maybe we'll see you there the last week in May! We're going 5/23 - 6/1. Look for the 18 month old in the front and the ds and dd fighting over the back!

we brought ours for our then 21 month old and 3½ year old on our last trip. My 3 year old didn't ride too often, he walked most of the time or asked to by put up on my husband or my father's shoulders. I didn't have any problems with folding it up quickly but I'm used to it. It took a little getting used to at first) The front wheels both have to be pointed in the right direction for it to fold and latch easily (sort of flipped sideways if I remember correctly...it's the opposite of what our front/back duoglider is!). My only complaint with folding it was that it's not made so that the basket under the seat is "sealed" (for lack of a better word) so that your stuff doesn't fall out so we had to take everything out of the basket when we fold it. Not a huge deal as most stuff was in the diaper bag but it's nice with other strollers that you can leave small lightweight stuff in the basket when it's folded.

I have this stroller and I think your kids may be too old/big for it. Having said that, it is the best stroller I have ever owned. I have four kids, so that's saying something. I'm using it now for my 8 month old and 3 year old.

I saw someone post a thread to One Step Ahead. Pricey catalog. I found the lowest price at strollers4less.com

Good luck!
