Strollers on Disney Transportation

Thank you all for your tips and advice. unfortunately I do have one of 'those' strollers. At least I think its monstrous. I do sense an undercurrent of being annoyed with people having these strollers at all but my children's well being comes first. I don't and would never expect 'special' treatment but simple understanding that I will do my best not to inconvenience anyone but that on the other hand leaving my stroller behind isn't an option. I wish renting a car was an option but we simply do not have the money, part of budget decision to stay on site- at the polynesian- was that we wouldn't need a car. I really wish Disney provided better options either for stroller storage on Disney transportation or better rental strollers. A baby simply cannot sleep on hard molded plastic!

I appreciate the tips but I must confess I am more nervous than ever. Are there any less busy times or are all the buses pretty much always full?

As long as you avoid the busier times of day...the hour before park opening until about an hour after the park opens, and at park closing, you shouldn't have an issue.
Obviously, people are going to be annoyed. They feel that those with strollers are infringing on their own particular rights..not sure what those rights are though. On the other hand, there are plenty of stroller users who have had attitudes of entitlement on the buses....the old 'Well, I have a baby and have to use the stroller. His being comfy is the most important thing...sorry if it inconveniences you!' type thing.
Everyone need to take a step back and try to compromise. Just because someone chooses to go to WDW with young children and then chooses to use a large stroller, does not automatically give them more rights than those without. On the other hand, just because you are more mobile than those with youngsters in strollers does not mean you get to go first, or that they have to wait until you do what you need to do because their going first will slow you down a bit.
It only takes one bad apple to ruin it for everyone...and that applies to both sides of the situation.

So....be ready to board the bus...have the stroller folded up and ready. (love the idea of the shopping bag for stuff!!!), have the kids ready to go. Meet up with Dad and the stroller away from the bus..do not stand right on the curb, in front of the door loading up the stroller.
On the other hand, cut those parents some slack. I'm pretty sure they don't mean to take more than their 'fair share' of space, don't mean to trample on your outstretched legs/feet.

Good point about asking to board in the back. Sometimes people will try and board in the back so the driver just won't always open it. If its big, just have it ready by the front door and ask ... "hey, can i load this in the back?" We were never really in a hurry w/our large stroller that I can think of. There was a few times where we would have been the last ones on the bus and decided to let some others on and not mess w/the hassle of squeezing on. Better to be one of the first ones on than a last one when you have a large stroller.

When we go we are going to have my brother, sis in law, niece and her husband, my wife and I for sure, then we will have an about 5 year old and 2 year old twins. My brother has already said they will be paying the price for a length of stay double stroller. We have enough adults to carry the kids and stuff from the park to the buses if needed (which I'm sure it will be) He basically said "I'll be damned if I'm going to fight a big stroller on the buses".

For all of these stated reasons we always rented a car with the stroller, we now still rent a car even though my youngest is 7!! We used the buses on our 1st trip to Disney & said never again!! Just our personal preference.
Nichrismom, you should be fine at the Poly with the monorail system. Please don't stress over it, just try to be "prepared" when boarding the buses.
Personally I found airport security to be the biggest hassle of the trip with the stroller. But again, preparedness is key!!

yeah don't let it freak you out. The fact that you're asking on here shows you are taking more initiative than most people. Just be aware of people around you and you'll be fine. Try to have a plan to be as efficient and safe as possible.

You have no idea how thrown off I was when someone with a stroller said "where would you like me to sit" on the boat. I was...thrown back to say the least. Most people don't think twice, so being on here and asking is more than your fair share of consideration.
