Strollers on board

With a 4 year old and a 2 year old, will we need to bring a stroller? Do they have any on board to rent? Can you use them in the ports of call? I would love to NOT have to bring a stroller along, but will I be sorry if I don't?!? Thanks!

Julie

I knew I had to have my stroller, but I had two 2-year olds when we went. Yes, you can rent them on board. And yes, you can take them out on the ports with you. I used ours quite a bit, both on board and on shore. I bought two umbrella strollers so they didn't take up much room at all. The ones you rent are quite a bit bigger.

We brought one stroller for DD but ended up needing one for DS when we got off the ship in port so we borrowed one from DCL. It was a very nice sturdy stroller and was also clean. Next time we may just leave our stroller in the car & use the ones on the ship. We just went down to GS that morning & picked it up then returned it that afternoon so we didn't have to store it in the room. There is a $100 deposit put on your room charge but they take that off when you return it.

You can bring one and many, MANY people did. If it is a big one, I saw several people who just folded it up and left it outside their cabin at night. Seriously.

How limited are the ships supply? Has anyone asked for one and found out they were already gone?

We had a double stroller since we were going to wdw after the cruise and it fit in our room just fine. we put it in the corner outside the bathroom. We used it at the straw market, but wished we didn't have it since there is barely any room for a person to walk. We didn't use it at all on the ship. My daughter is 2.5yrs., but she is pretty independant since she has an older brother who is 6 and she thinks anything he can do she can also do. It pretty much depends on your children if they like the stroller I would bring it since I wouldn't want to carry them around. If they prefer to walk and you won't need it for wdw or anything then I wouldn't bother to bring it. It really depends on your children! It isn't a big hassle to bring it if you will actually use it.

I am also curious to see if anyone has ever gotten down to GS and there weren't any strollers left...

Julie

IDK about the supply on the ship, but wanted to add that we used our umbrella stroller two nights for our 6 yo DS who fell asleep soon before dinner. We propped him up with a blanket & he slept there in the corner next to our table during dinner. Definitely have one to use with little ones. :)

We got one from GS the morrning we were at Nassau...we didn't go real early...and had no problem getting one.

I really don't like it when people leave their strollers outside their rooms. The hallways are narrow enough without having to maneuver around a stroller too. I saw a woman in a wheelchair that couldn't get down the hallway because a stroller was there. Please be considerate of other people and don't put strollers outside your rooms.

Before anyone says anything, I have a 2 year old DD that's been on two cruises so far. We bring her stroller and just fold it up and leave it in the room.

Please don't flame me for this.

No flame here :) I agree, the hallways are tight and most strollers are easy enough to fold up.

I brought our double stoller. Not only for ports but for the airport, waiting in line at the terminal, for the storage place while at the beach, etc.
I agree about the strollers outside the cabins. Please dont' do this. I'm surprised it's even allowed for fire safety not to mention the hallways are tight. Even with a double stroller, we made room for it in the Cat 9 cabin.

I will not only NOT flame you but support you wholeheartedly and put out a general warning to anyone who is so inconsiderate as to park their stroller in a narrow hallway. They will be notified by guest services at any time, day or night, and asked to remove it to a less hazardous, for others, place.

Do they really notify people...And do they need complaints before hand...or will they just see them sitting in the hall then notify the people in whatever stateroom? I just ask because on our cruise there were a couple people in our hall with strollers and yes they did just park them outside their door at any time...and all night long. I agree with the previous posters....as that should NOT be done....and I was suprised every time I walked down the hall and around the strollers that DCL allowed it. I hate to say it but next time I think I'll just call GS and let them know there sitting out there.

Really if you pack a stroller on the trip have the coursity to keep it out of other cruisers way...and out of the hall....You wouldn't leave it parked in a hall at a hotel?.

I do believe DCL has only a limited supply of strollers onboard. Not sure how many, but I doubt enough for everyone to leave their strollers at home and use one of DCL's!!!

Trying calling DCL...they may be able to let you know how many they have onboard. Also, the elevators on DCL are very small and you really cannot turn a regular sized stroller around in them. If at all possible use the umbrella type as they fit much better. Basically a full size stroller will take up the whole elevator (except the ones mid-ship..they are a bit larger but still narrow).
