We're in the World October 17-21. We've been down 3 times with a stroller (a Peg Perego Pliko; about $300) and haven't had any issue with it being taken. We're considering bringing down our better stroller (a Bugaboo Chamelion; about $900).

Would you feel safe parking an expensive stroller while on rides?

People are walking by so fast and honestly, if you are the kind of person that would steal a stroller you probably don’t know the difference, but personally we leave our expensive stroller at home and take our cheap stroller along. That way there are no worries. We leave it parked in Fantasyland for hours in the same spot running from ride to ride and pick it up before heading to Liberty Square and don’t worry about anyone taking it. If they do we are only out $60 not $1,000.

I would think the risk is pretty low. How are you getting to WDW? I would worry more about damage if flying than it being stollen at WDW.

I love my pliko and have been very happy with that. Does the bugaboo fold nicely?

We took our beloved Maclaren with us and didn't worry about it being stolen.

(I am somewhat of a stroller addict, so I notice strollers. :p )

I saw a few Bugaboos, Mountain Buggys, and others that would take a pretty penny to replace. I think you'd be okay with taking it.

You could also call your homeowner's insurance company to see if they;d replace your stroller if it were stolen on vacation. Never hurts to check.

I abolutely would bring it. If you are comfortable using it, then I say yes.

I believe no one even bothers with each other strollers. To me the biggest problem was the rented ones.

I was concerned our good stroller was too heavy when I was planning our last trip so I bought a less expensive & lightweight Maclaren. I ended up loving the Maclaren so much I was worried about leaving it unattended. :goodvibes But it was fine.

If having it stollen is even one bit likely to ruin your vacation I wouldn't take the risk. I would take a $50 stroller instead that way if it gets stollen or broken your not out $900. Just my opinion though.

I'd leave it at home. Not for fear of someone stealing it as much as it getting rained on or damaged somehow. It would make me sick if something happened to it, and that wouldn't be worth it.

I agree with the others. I would leave the more expensive one at home. Not for risk of it being stolen, but of it being damaged in transit.

When our children were very young, many moons ago, we bought a 25 dollar fold up umbrella stroller. This made life easy on us, folds in a snap, ease getting on/off Disney transportation, small enough for easy manuvering around the World , cheap enough so no one would want it and comfy enough for child, with awning, to be happy cruising WDW.

The last bunch of trips to WDW, we've seen all typres of people, some might just be on the lookout for expensive strollers but to ease my mind, if it were my choice, leave the expensive one home and get a small, manuverable one for WDW.

We bought a $ 13 stroller at wallmart just for our last trip it was all we neaded easy to fold, small & light to carry on busses and if it did go missing no big deal . did'nt even bother to take it home with us if we go again while my DD is still of stroller age we will just buy an other .

I wouldn't take something that expensive to the parks just to leave sitting around while I did the rides. I would probably be worrying too much about it. I would take a cheaper one just in case something did happen to it.

I parked my Bugaboo all over WDW last week and didn't even think twice about it, even though I was a little apprehensive before the trip about it.

I will tell you this though - while that stroller is awesome to tour the parks with (so smooth to push and turn, easy to reposition child out of the sun and tilt to recline, very comfy to nap in, etc.), it was a bear on the busses. Even one of the bus drivers came over to mention how difficult these strollers are whenever someone rides the bus with them because you have to take the seat off and then fold the chassis and carry two stroller pieces on board. You have to get your child out of the stroller way before the bus comes to be able to get it all apart in time to board. Our new rule - unless we are staying at an Epcot resort where we can roll the stroller on the boat and only have to deal with it to go to MK (we usually don't do AK) we will take another stroller. It wasn't worth the trouble.

ETA: The other downside of this stroller is at the security tables. Because the underneath storage is a drawstring bag, the guards had us open it and move everything around to be able to see what was in it. One even asked that we take DD out to get to the bottom!

YIKES!!! Take the Pliko. One of the features I really like about the Pliko is that it stands when folded. It great for waiting for the bus and while on the bus-you still have to hold it but it's easier to hold than many other strollers that can't stand on their own.

Hmmm, that is what I was thinking. I have never seen a $900 stroller that I know of! My kids first car only cost half of that!! WOW

I doubt most people are going to realize it's a $900 stroller. I, mother of two young girls, did not know strollers existed in that price range. So most are going to not realize what a tempting offer you're displaying when you park it. It's also very possible that it will stand out for some reason and that might make it less likely to be stolen. Better to steal a 'common' stroller than a cadillac of strollers because the thief is more likely to be seen and caught.

I do agree with the others though, that I wouldn't risk the airline damage and the rain damage at Disney.

This is probably going to sound pathetic  , but I don't have kids and I recognize these strollers. Yes, Bugaboos are the "cadillacs" of strollers...they are used by most celebrities for their children. I know about these strollers from reading celebrity gossip magazines!

I wouldn't worry about it being stolen (yes, I know Bugaboos and saw a few in the parks last week), but I would worry about tit being inconvenient. I'd take the Pliko for convenience.
