Is it better to bring our own strollers to Disneyland, or to rent when we get there? We will have a 1-year-old and a 4-year-old. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hmm... I don't think there's a clear-cut answer here. Depends on what your own stroller is like, where you are staying, how you will be getting to the parks...

It's $12/day to rent a stroller. (Not sure if you get a discount for renting two, or if they have a double stroller.) That can add up fast! Disney Visa cardholders get two (I believe?) free stroller rentals a day.

If you're staying at one of the Harbor Blvd or on-property hotels, you'll have to consider the walk to/from the park, since the strollers can't leave the park. Will your child be up to walking... (Or willl you be up to carrying your child?) at the end of a long day? If not, then maybe you want to bring your own stroller.

If you're driving and parking, then you don't really have that concern. You have a different one: you'll have to fold up your stroller to get on the tram to/from the parking lot. If you have a small stroller, this may not be a big deal, but if you have a large one that is a PITA to fold, well, maybe that will annoy you every day and justify the rental.

FWIW, most of my mommy friends bring their own strollers. I have brought my own stroller every time, and I have never had a problem with it getting lost or stolen. Then again, I love my stroller and think it's really easy to push. If you have one of those doubles that is HEAAAAVY, maybe a rental is worth it.

I (and my kids) personally hate the strollers at both DL and LL. I'd say if you can bring your own, do it. Plus, consider DL does not have doubles and you'd be renting two for your two kids.

If you can't bring your own, consider renting one from a baby gear rental co. There are a couple of different ones that service the area and often it is cheaper than the cost at theme parks (starting around $7 rather than the $12 DL charges, $10 and up for a double rather than $24 for 2 singles at DL), plus you can take it everywhere then, not just the theme parks (beach, mall, etc) and you can walk back to your car or hotel with it and not have to ditch it at the gate. They will deliver it to your hotel before you arrive so it is waiting for you and pick it up after you leave.

I wouldn't worry too much about the tram, you can get on and off the tram with it unfolded if it is big, like a jogger, and you can also walk from the garage to the gate. If you have to take ART or a hotel shuttle, you should go compact for sure, like a Sit n Stand.

YOu will need a stroller for both kids. It's very tiring for them to do so much walking and it's tiring to you to always keep tabs on them. It's nice to just go when you know everyone is strapped in. We rented one stroller and our 3 year old sat in it and our 5 year old sat on the foot rest. The stroller was hard to turn but it worked just fine for us.

i have to agree with the pp's...if you can, bring your own stroller or use the stroller rental service so you'll have something to get you around dtd-to your hotel/parking garage.

i also recommend getting or using a stroller that lets the older one lay completely flat so they can rest if they need to.

i always bring my big 'ole grayco b/c i love the cup holders, handy trays & the huge basket to stuff & store all our gear. i never regret bringing it along!
