Strollers at Universal?

So we are going the week after Thanksgiving with 5 year old twin boys. We did the nice umbrella strollers at Disney 2 years ago and they worked out so great because I have a bad back and the strollers worked as a way to stash my stuff without having to carry it on my back. It was heavenly!

So even though my boys are probably not going to fit into those same strollers well, I am considering still bringing them. Just to drive our stuff around. I don't know. I just know having to carry all our junk depresses me and we can't just leave it in a locker. We have a son with peanut allergies so I always have to carry an epipen and benadryl and our money and a camera and water and food an souvenirs etc.

Is there stroller parking at Universal like in Disney World. Last time I did Universal I was in college and really don't remember seeing it. I would rather stash stuff in stroller instead of locker. We take the valuables with us in lanyards so I don't worry about people really stealing stuff. Never had any trouble at Disney.

So I guess any tips and clue me in on strollers and parking. Also are the rental strollers bigger because I might rent them if the kids will fit in them better than our umbrella strollers.

I also have a wanderer son that if you don't keep on him will wander away so I like having him in a stroller so he doesn't get lost. He is special needs. I don't want to be one of those weirdos with big kids hanging out of strollers or get weird looks because we are pushing empty strollers.

Who cares what strangers think. Your never going to see them again. Have you thought about renting? They are big like the ones at disney and plenty of storage. There are plenty of people there with strollers and kids that are 5. Better a few looks from stupid people than misery for you!

You have to do what feels right for you. I don't like having to carry stuff either, so I don't. There are ways to get around carrying a load of junk if you want.

First, wear clothes with pockets that are easy to stash stuff in. My DH and son wear cargo shorts and I just wear regular lady shorts with a good pocket. In one pocket I keep my phone inside of a ziplock baggy (to protect it from water rides).

I also carry a pocket sized wallet (that I actually got from Disney). It holds my money, car key (I take the key off the ring and leave the rest of the keys in the car), pills (my son has some issues so I put his medicine in a ziplock and stick in the wallet), etc. Carrying liquid medicine could be a problem, and I imagine an epipen might be too big? Does Benadryl have chewables? Would an epipen fit in a pocket? Anyway, the wallet has a wrist strap and I mostly let it dangle. But I stuff it in my pocket when I go on rides or to skip the bag check.

I get free ice water from the vendors which comes from the soda fountains. It taste better than water fountains and I don't have to carry a water bottle. On occasions where I'm going to be there open to close and might want a brush for my hair or something to touch up makeup, or change of clothes for my son, etc....I rent a locker and stash that stuff in there.

Universal is also tougher than Disney because they will make you put things in lockers before going on certain rides. So I just try to carry as little as possible. But at least their lockers are free (The temporary ones by the rides. Regular lockers have a fee). Sea World not only makes you stash your stuff, but they charge you for the locker too. Hence why I learned to stop carrying a bunch of junk with me, lol.

That being said, if you still feel like you need to carry and bunch of stuff and want a stroller, than get one. :) They do have rentals there just like Disney does, or you can bring your own.

reminder - don't leave anything of value in a stroller, anywhere. Epipens are sensitive to the heat

bigger strollers harder to navigate imo. many umbrella strollers do have a sunshield, important in the orlando sun.

The strollers are large and comfortable at Universal. Years ago my 5 year old occasionally used one during our trip and he was a big kid and fit fine. Some 5 year olds still benefit - heck if I could fit I'd take advantage sometimes too! :rotfl:

haha Thanks. I would let someone push me around too if I could get away with it! I guess we will bring maybe one of the umbrella strollers to push the stuff around in and see if we want to rent when we get there. My kids do like those huge rental strollers. We used them at Dollywood and the zoos. They are pricey to rent, but might be worth it since we will have 4 adults to take turns pushing it so we don't get wore out.

Universal does have stroller parking :) If you are worried about the strollers you rent from the parks being pricey you could always use an outside company that delivers to your hotel. I know of three main ones: Babies R Us Travel Rentals, Kingdom Strollers & Orlando Stroller...they might be cheaper than the theme parks. Just an idea :)
