Strollers at DL...Would you take a jogger?

On our last trip we took our Graco stroller from a travel system & it worked just fine. Since then the handle has snapped off & it took a trip to the dump. Now I am down to just having my jogger. Would you think that would be ok there? Too big?

My LO is 2.5 & my last baby so I hate to put much more money into another stroller. Do you think the jogger is appropriate or should I look for something else?

I say bring it. The strollers they rent at the park are very similar to a jogger. You should be just fine.

The only issue with a jogger is your front tire might stick out more and tend to bump into things or people (they also might trip or run into a front bike tire, but thats their fault not yours). The DL strollers are similar, but don't have front wheels that stick out as far as a jogger with a bike tire up front would!

Regardless, I saw plenty of joggers, double strollers, etc... when we were there a few weeks ago. I would say take what your child is comfortable riding in that is one of the biggest reasons you are taking a stroller in the first place.

If you can afford it the DL strollers are great! Very easy to push (even with the weight of a 5 year old in it). The sun visors are huge and the storage underneath is nice. You can even leave your own stroller at the stroller rental if you need something to push your kids in between the hotel and park.

We tried taking our sit n stand stroller for our 5yo and 2yo and it was just to much weight with the two of them to navigate the parks comfortably and we ended up renting 2 strollers for 25.00 a day for the last 2 days of the trip.

We have taken a jogger for our older DS and did just fine. Yes the wheel sticks out further but if you normally use this stroller then you come to judge the distance without too much trouble... I say bring the stroller and spend your money on other fun stuff!!

I wouldn't, the aisles are too narrow.

The rentals look similar, but I know they are narrower than my jogger.

I didn't look at your location or signature, but if you're local, or just getting "into" disney, if you might be going relatively often for the next couple years...a nice Volo might sever you very well. DS is well into his 5s and did need the stroller a couple times on our recent visit, and he'll be 6 for our WDW visit and I'm certainly bringing the stroller there, just in case (good gracious the kid's nearly Indy height (he's 45"), and I'm only 63"...I can only carry his sleeping bod so many steps). We got it when he was 3 and it's still going strong!

We bring our double jogger when we go. Although this will probably be the last time we do. Our youngest is 5 and getting so he can handle more of the walking at DL. It is nice to have a "safe" place for your kids to be when they are feeling a little overwhelmed with the sights and sounds of DL and we keep our kids in the stroller when we are moving from Land to Land or across the esplanade to the other park. When we are just working one Land we park the stroller (backwards) and just walk around together.

It helps when we are going to another Land to have the kids in front of me or DH, that way I don't have to worry about who is holding which hand. Makes my Mom job so much easier.

as a pedestrian I notice that jog strollers take up an awful lot of space.

We are taking our BOB stroller. It is smaller than the double (front/back) stroller we took last year. I would think you would be fine. A jogger is no bigger than a wheelchair or an electric scooter and I am sure all the aisles/areas have to be big enough for that.

We use a double jogger. I'm sure a single will work just fine, and probably easier to maneuver in the crowds.

Is it a swivel front wheel or stationary? I would totally take it if it's a swivel but probably not a stationary. 2.5 is still fairly young and I'd guess if you do a lot of this type of stuff you'd get a lot of use out of a Maclaren or other higher weight limit umbrella stroller. My DS is 5.5 and almost 60 lbs and still does ok in the triumph (volo not so much anymore). With that said we have taken our double jogging stroller with swivel front wheel LOTS of times and other than shopping (now we just leave it outside and let them walk in most of the time) it's GREAT!

I think the swivel wheel is a big deal, personally. It would be hard to turn it in the crowds.

We take our bike trailer double, which is like a jogger, but the front wheel doesn't stick out (it's a Chariot 2 with the stroller kit). It has 2 swivel stroller wheels that are under the front. We've never had trouble with it in the crowds because it is so manueverable. Even with 3 kids sitting in it, we can steer it easily with one hand. I think it takes up less space than a double front to back stroller, and it definitely steers easier.

So I say take it, as long as the wheel swivels.

Thanks everyone for the input! I wasn't worried about the width of it so much because I don't really think it is any wider than a standard stroller. I was mainly concerned with the front wheel sticking out & how well we could navigate it thru crowds. The front wheel does not swivel, it's like a bike tire.

Another vote for the Volo ~ we've had ours for a few years now and it's DD's Disney stroller ~ brought it with us to FL and it made the trip so much smoother, I've also brought it with us for our DLR trips this year. Since your front tire is fixed I'd be less inclined to bring it if I were you, you'll do a lot of turning and altering course in the parks and those things are no fun to "swivel"

Ok, you've turned me on to the Mac strollers, I'm looking now, lol. My dh will not be happy with you! :lmao:

Anyway, I was looking on the Mac website & see the Quest, Triumph & Volo models as possibilities (if I go this route).

My concern with the Volo is that it doesn't recline. She will most likely nap in her stroller while we cruise the parks. Then that would take me to the Quest or the Triumph, they both recline.

Aside from the prices new, is the recline the biggest difference? They all maneuver ok?

Ok, and I see that they go up in weight a little too.

The Volo has enough "slouch" (deep seat) that a older toddler should be comfortable enough to nap ~ DD has fallen asleep in the Volo when we've had a late Disney night. If you have a Babies R Us (or other baby/child gear store) near you you can take them for a test stroll ~ you certainlly don't need to buy there, you'd get a better deal online I'm sure. The Volo will be the lowest priced Mac you'll find. DD while somewhat petite at 6 years old is very easy to push around in the Volo.

When DD was younger we would take our jogger that is like yours--the front wheel is a bike tire and does not swivel. I thought it worked great, but it all depends on how comfortable you are driving it amongst the crowds. If you are a skilled jogger-stroller-driver, go for it. If you're always struggling with the non-rotating wheel (like my DW did ;) ), maybe go with something else.

The advantage of using a jogger stroller with bike-type wheels is they are much easier to maneuver up/down curbs and they generally travel smoother.

Since you are lookin at new strollers, I highly recommend the Chariots. http://www.rei.com/product/782788 This is what we have, with the added stroller kit, and it was probably the best kid gear purchase we ever made. We have 3 kids 7 and under, and all three can fit in to it easily. You can't say that about other double strollers. The inside is basically a big square, with a bench seat in the back, so if you lay blankets in the foot well, it can be a large rolling bed. 2 kids can fit in the back, with another sitting on blankets in the foot well, and they are reasonably comfortable. And since it doesn't have a wheel that sticks out front, it is super easy to get through crowds. I love ours.

Last time I flew I saw a couple with an amazing stroller. It is called the inglesina zippy. It is light, folds and unfolds extremely easy, is super light and won't tip if you hang bags from the handles, it stands on it's own when folded, and folds small like an umbrella. There is a good review on YouTube of one. They have a sticker shock but I found ours on craigslist for 70 dollars.

My wife and I have tried and owned 8 strollers across our two kids and have found the two best for us. The inglesina goes on trips and stays in the car for mall trips. We also have a bob revolution for when we will do tons of walking on rough terrain.
