My DD8 has mild autism and an issue with her legs. After walking for long periods of time they get to a point where she is "clumsy" in her gait.
She is too big to carry as she is taller than your typical 8 year old.
We just went to six flags and rented a wheelchair but it was a bit too big for her and we overhear so many nasty comments and got nasty looks.
No one realizes she has an issue until they see her walk.

I cannot remember but would a Disney park stroller fit her well and we just get a GAC from Guest Services? Or again get a wheelchair that may be a bit too big.

At home and normal day life it is much easier to go home, or stop and take a rest, but when in a theme park it is not as easy. Especially with her since she wants to constantly take in the Magic of Disney.

Some kids her size seem more comfortable in the Disney DOUBLE stroller, it gibes them more room to turn their longer legs to the side, and to get into different positions.

Ultimately, you will probably want to explore other options. We used a Maclaren Major stroller for awhile, then went to a companion chair for my son. the companion chair always seemed so uncomfortable looking, so we later for a Convaid chair (on Ebay! i lucked out).

I have DS, now age 21, with Autism and Down Syndrome.

thanks! i will look into it and see if she thinks it will be a comfy fit.

Yep the Convaid's are quite expensive. We had one for a while but she refused to use it after lots of PT. She doesnt need aid much now except for long walking or running events.

You may want to rent a pediatric wheelchair for her. There are some places in the FAQs at the top of this thread that rent them. Also, if you get it from an off site vendor, you will have it for the hotel as well. It is a long way back to the room at the end of a long day!

thanks! i did see one with a Maclaren Buggy. i sent an email hoping they may have one.

Hi!

My DD13 is currently receiving chemotherapy for leukemia. She has neuropathy from the chemos and has limited mobility. She uses a Convaid Cruiser and we plan on using it in the parks next spring.
