I have a question about how WDW handles the "stroller=wheelchair".

Is that a stamp that is added to your card or a tag that you hang on your stroller. At DL it is just a stamp on DD's card along with one other stamp. Is that the same as WDW?

I was reading somewhere about a tag that goes on your stroller? Is a tag something that has to be on the stroller the whole time?

The reason I ask is bc DD does not like it when things are not the same as always. She does not like things hanging or attached to her stroller. Even when we fly she wants the name tag removed immediatly after getting off the plane.

If the tag is something that needs to be on there then I will talk to her about it ahead of time instead of a meltdown on day 1 of a 14 day vacation!

Thanks for any insight!

We have taken a stroller with us many times and are using a wheelchair for the 1st time in April.

The only tag we have ever had was a disability 'blue badge' type, but that was from the Airline and nothing in connection with WDW at all.

It is a tag that hangs up by the handle. It does stay on for the length of your stay.I guess if it came off you would need to go to guest services. I placed ours up by the handle maybe she wouldn't see it.

They will put a stamp on the GAC or they will give you a tag to put on the stroller (or both). You can still show the Stroller as Wheelchair stamp to a CM; however, it is just a lot easier for us when we see the red tag on the stroller.

If you have not checked it out, there is more information about GACs (Guest Assistance Cards) in the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of this board. The GAC information is in post #6.

As was already mentioned, the tag on the wheelchair is easier to see, which is why it is often used. But, you can just as easily have a stamp on the GAC. Just explain to the CM at Guest Relations why it is easier for you.

They have given us both every time we have been to wdw. The best thing to do as mentioned make sure that the red sticker tag they give you is in a easily visable place for instance I placed mine in the middle on the top of the handle (I don't have umbrella style handles)

Thank you for all of the information! The tag would drive DD nuts, as it is not "normally" there. It is nice to know that you can also have the stamp on your card like at DL. I will talk to her about it before we go so hopefully she lets us keep it on the stroller.

Thanks again for all of the great info. I have DL down but WDW is a little overwhelming for me!!!

Hi; I'm sure you're going to have a great trip!! As others have stated, you will be given both. FWIW, it will be much, much, much more annoying if you don't have the tag on the stroller. Even with the red tag there are often several attempts to "redirect" us at some attractions. Most CM's are very nice, but sometimes even with the stamp and the red tag we had to explain to "newer" cm's. ( I like to think they were just dazzled by the cool stroller we rented) So just be prepared for more frustration, and potentially for someone to helpfully "move" your stroller if it's not as clearly marked. On the other hand, life is not pleasant for me when my kids are melting down, and I would do an awful lot to avoid it. I just wanted to make sure you had an idea of issues on both side so to speak. One possibility, is if she understands that the tags for the plane need to be on for that trip maybe she'll understand that the tag for WDW needs to be on for that trip? You also have full freedom to decide where to place it so if you wanted to you could let her choose where it would bother her the least. Just some ideas
