Stroller Weight Limits

I know, another stroller thread. :sad2:

However, I have a slightly different topic. I have a 5 year old who weighs about 40 lbs and a 6 year old who is 50 lbs.

However, most umbrella strollers have a weight limit of 35 lbs.

So, my questions are:

1. Is it okay to use one for 35 lbs (we are getting a single mostly for the 5 year old though the 6 year old might use for short stints) with a 40 lb child? What will happen? Has anyone tried this?

2. Are there any umbrella type strollers that have a higher weight limit? If so, where can I get one close to disney world (want to buy it there and pass it along)?

I have a 5 year old that weighs 40 pounds. I ordered: The First Years Jet Stroller from Amazon.. It holds up to 50 pounds, is roomy, a little wider, and comfy. (my son would use it as a chair if I hadn't put it away!).

They have several to choose from (colors) and qualifies for super saver shipping.

*I am not affiliated with either of these companies--just love the product!

Wow I was looking for a cheaper stroller to use and this one looks great.. I will have to keep it in mind!

See what people say here, but my 45lb son did use a reg cheap stroller the day he was sick when we were at WDW. (all of us got extremly sick the 2nd week we were there!) and it was fine, think it was $11 at Walmart. Not the most comfy thing but it worked when his energy was low.

Thanks for posting that stroller you can get from Amazon. I have nearly 5 year old and although she's more than capable of walking she hates it. I had a stroller, but it broke and didn't think I'd need to replace it. We were at the mall this past weekend and the girl acted like she couldn't walk so I had to purchase one of those expensive mall strollers. We'll be visiting our local theme park often this summer so I think this $40 stroller will be perfect and when we go to Disney when she's 6 I'll bring it along just in case.

The Mac Volo holds up to 55 pounds. It only weighs about 11 pounds and is super easy to push with a bigger child in it. We bought one years ago for our 3rd dd. She used it at 6 and 7 to jump into at WDW. The ones that hold a lesser weight are VERY hard to push and will frustrate you trying to get it through the parks. I would definately spend a few more dollars and get one like the pp posted or a Mac that will tolerate the weight.

I second the recommendation for the Maclaren Volo. We used it for our 6 year old on our last trip. It's light weight so easy to carry around and pushed really easy even when she was riding in it.
