Stroller safety question

We're pretty sure we're going to bring our own stroller (Mac Triumph) for our first trip to WDW with our 3yo DD March 14-21; we'll want it in the airport and back and forth to the hotel, etc....

But, and forgive me if this is a tired old question, how safe is it to leave a personal stroller near the rides if we're all on them at once? I've read in the UNofficial Guide about personalizing the Disney strollers to make sure yours is there when you return, but I'm not clear what people do about the ones they bring themselves.

Or is there a collective sense that stealing someone's personal stroller is cruel & unusual punishment? LOL.

I have been to Disney 3 times with my stroller and my sister 4 times - we leave our strollers all the time - as does everyone else - I have never given it a thought and never had a problem!

but make sure you do have some sort of way to identify your stroller!

I just recently "broke down" and spent $300+ for a "Peg Perego Pliko P3", as I am allowing my mom to "take custody" of my dd while we are in WDW for business for a couple of days. They will be taking bus/monorail transportation, so I needed a stroller that was soft & reclining (and, big enough for a 3yr old), but also folded EASILY with one hand for the bus/monorail rides....the Pliko p3 was the only one that "fit the bill".

Needless to say, I am a bit concerned that someone might want to "trade up" to this stroller....so, I bought a "cable lock" that is used for luggage or skis. I plan on locking this stroller to a fence or something whenever we go on a ride.

It's just my way of not being the easiest target.

I have also heard of the ploy of placing a wadded up diaper in the cup holder of your stroller (preferably one with water in it) to "gross out" anyone who might be looking.

Beca - the disney strollers are constantly being moved by cast members to keep them moving so more people can park their strollers - and there are not always places to lock them - someone here might know Disney's policy on this - but I am willing to guess they would frown on this

Yes, I've read many stroller threads and it's
definitely a "no-no" to lock your stroller to something.
To the OP: Maybe you could lock the wheels or
lock it to prevent folding - I've read of others doing that.

My P3 was perfectly safe on our December trip. Since it is navy (like 90% of the strollers out there), we tied a colorful bandana to the handle. It made it easy to spot it after leaving a show, etc. We did not leave valuables like our cameras, Pal Mickey, etc. in it, though, as those seem awfully easy to snatch. There are a lot of expensive strollers there - many that cost much more than a Triumph - so if in doubt, park your stroller next to a Peg Perego or another Maclaren. Ya know, pick THAT stroller instead of mine, lol...

And it is also my understanding that you cannot lock your stroller to a fence, but can put the lock through the back wheels so it cannot be rolled. Or put a lock on so that it cannot be folded (not sure how well that works). The diaper trick is way too old, and won't foil a real thief - with garbage cans all over, why would someone be carrying a *real* dirty diaper??

Well last year our stroller disappeared after a storm rolled in during our dinner in San Angel. Someone grabbed ours in the downpour- by mistake, because we found theirs right where we left ours(same stroller actually in better condition than ours) LOL too because theirs had their name on it. Ours had a scarf wrapped on the handle- but I guess that didn't stand out enough. We went to guest services, left our info, but never heard from the "Grover's"

On many rides that have lots of stroller kids inside....the CM constantly are managing the strollers...you are not allowed to lock your stroller to anything at WDW. Previously I have read a type of "lock" that still allows 1 set of the wheels to roll so CM can still manage the stroller but anybody else wouldn't be able to move it like a normal stroller.

I have taken my stroller for 7 years about 14 trips and I have never had a problem with anybody taking it...

Just wanted to say, I bought an inexpensive obonoxiously bright colored bandana and wrapped it around one of the handles on our stroller. It really helped us spot it in the sea of strollers, especially outside rides like the safari ride at AK, where they park the stroller for you, or outside shows, where there are a vast multitude of them and the cm's are constantly moving them to make room for more.

On a side note, I hope that no one ever steals our stroller - that would be a bummer. But I refuse to worry about it in the happiest place on earth.

We are at WDW all the time. We have never had a problem with anything concerning our stroller. As posted above, the CM's do move the strollers. Part of their job is to keep the stollers orderly so as not to block any traffic. We ALWAYS have something on the handlebars to identify our stroller. In a sea of strollers sometimes it's hard to find them. I have noticed that there is a super cheap stroller at Walmart with a Teddy Bear on it. I have seen as many as 10 of these parked in the same area, without any type of identifiers on it. It would be easy to grab the wrong one, when there's so many the same. We usually put something on the handlebars to identify ours. Chances are if someone is pushing the stroller they'll notice the handle bar 1st. My only advice is to "hide" toys. I've seen children grab stuffed animals and sippy cups out of other strollers. We also put our sippy cup in the storage area so that another child doesn't take a sip and put it back. When I remember, I recline the seat so that the storage bin isn't as easily accessible.

One our 1st trip to WDW we did the lock thing. We threaded the cable through the back wheels (not to something). That became a pain in the butt!! By the end of the trip we did not lock it at all. We have a pricey stroller right now (Combi Twin Savvy) and on our last trip in January we used it with no locks. In all of our trips we've never had a problem
