Stroller revolt!

I see double strollers in the parks all the time that are brought in by people. I don't think they enforce that rule for strollers.

i don't know whether it's enforced or not, but most double strollers actually fit within the 36" limit. for example: the maclaren doubles are only 30" wide.

I too have a seven year old. She wears a size 4T (as in toddler). She is the size of a four year old, and they get to ride in strollers. Her little legs get tired more easily than ours do, so why should she be made to walk all day just because of her age?

I would buy the stroller and sell it later. The new rental prices are out of control!

The OP asked I gave my opinion, but see your excuse as why you rent for your 7 yo still doesn't fly with me.

See I have a 4 yo (who wears 4 T clothes) and she walks the parks too.

I really don't care what you do, its your money not mine. :rolleyes1

You asked, so here it goes.

There is no way I would dish that much money out for a 7 yo to ride in a stroller. Sorry for that much, he or she could walk. That is a huge chunk of change that could pay for alot of other things at WDW.

As far as the 4 yo, you could pick up a cheap stroller anywhere.

Ditto.

My concern is that people will start renting more wheel chairs (because they are cheaper), and just let the kids take turns or share the seat. Not as comfy, but would give little feet a break and could serve as the family pack mule.

Wow, I certainly hope people wouldn't rent wheelchairs as a budgetary move - that's akin to taking the handicapped spot because it's closer. I wouldn't think wheelchairs handle very well, either - so hopefully they're not an attractive option.

They don't now, once they see a significant drop in rental strollers and an increase in large outside strollers you can darn well bet they will.

To those thinking of bringing large jogging strollers:

Cut/pasted from the official WDW theme park FAQs -

Q. Are there any personal items I should not bring with me into the Theme Parks?

A. Items that you may not bring into the Theme Parks include, but are not limited to:

Items with wheels, such as wagons, skateboards, scooters, inline skates, shoes with built-in wheels, two-wheeled or three-wheeled conveyances, strollers larger than 36" x 52", suitcases, coolers, or backpacks with or without wheels larger than 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high (coolers required for medication may be stored in a locker or at Guest Relations), and any trailer-like object that is pushed or towed by an ECV wheelchair or stroller
Alcoholic beverages
Weapons of any kind
Folding chairs
Glass containers (excluding baby food jars and perfume bottles)
Pets (unless they are service animals)
In Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park (for the safety of the wildlife), balloons, straws and drink lids are not permitted.

Just went and measured my double jogger. It is about the same size as the ones in the park—I’ve taken it a few times—and it comes in under those measurements.

My kids 9 and 7 don't walk fast enough to keep up with me at the parks. That's why we always get a stroller, plus it's a good place to hold our drinks.

They also like taking a break every now and then and it also gives them some shade.

Don't see the issue with the age.

See our trips to WDW aren't races around the parks to see how much we can do in an hour. Some of the fun is strolling and enjoying the scenery. I can't see the enjoyment of running from one attraction to another, literally!

Sometimes its fun to stop and smell the flowers. :flower3:

I am confused as to why everyone is up in arms about a Disney stroller price increase. People all over these boards have raved about A Baby's Best Friend www.abbf.com rental service in Orlando for YEARS. Myself included. ABBF's prices have always been considerably less than the parks prices, and their stollers are much nicer, cleaner, and comfortable.

We have used ABBF for years, and their service and equipment has always been top notch. A single stroller for seven nights works out to $8.29/day. The double stroller to $11.14/day. And their double jogger to $12.14/day. Their prices were better even BEFORE the Disney increase.

Our things from ABBF have always been waiting for us in the luggage room at bell services at our resort when we arrived. NO fuss, no muss. No waiting at the parks, no returning before exiting. We pick up at the luggage room and it's with us the entire trip, and then drop back off to the luggage room when checking out to leave.

It's no secret they've always had better products for a better value.

HTH!

Because sometimes it's nice to not have to drag a stroller back and forth between resort and park when it's really only needed in the park.

I understand that point. I was going by my experiences of using it out of the parks as well, ie Boardwalk, DTD, shopping, etc.

Every single time there is a stroller thread the age thing comes in to play, every single time!

Look if your child needs/wants a stroller and you as a parent are fine with it, weather the kid is 1 or 10 then get it! Plain and simple, you know your child and what they can or cant do, you know that on a certain day at a certain park those little legs are gonna get weery and need a break, nobody else needs to worry about it~ Sorry this topic drives me nuts. those snotty "dose your 7year old REALLY need a stroller" comments are just mean! You have no idea if they do or dont and honestly, not your business either! Jeez!

Ok off my soapbox now, anyway yes $31 is crazy, crazy, crazy! My little guy does great, thank goodness. But that said his first trip he was 5 & I rented one for our stay, yes "gasp" a double one so I could put my son & my junk in it. Our next trip he was 6 said he didnt want one, no biggie, day 4 we hit AK and we got him one cause I knew by noon his little bum would want a seat! I was right and he was happy to have it just to sit down have a drink or whatever and take a ride. All of us were better for it that day, he got to rest and was happy! He didnt need one the rest of our 10 day stay, but that day it was a godsend.

Now this year, ughhh I would have so rented one in AK(if needed) and maybe still will. There is no way I would need to bring one or rent off site it was nice just to get that "one day need" stroller.

Really does disney care if you rent one? I have seen posted "oh they raised the price to cut down on strollers in the park" What? why? it was money in there pocket and they knew it, and that aside its DISNEY WORLD you know the place where family's with little kids go, so of course there would be strollers all over the place.
Yes, I know people without kids go, and people with kids that dont need/want/use strollers go but really disney without strollers thats just mean to the kids that need them. :confused3
You bet you sweet fanny that there will be poor little kids all over the parks, that there parents will let them walk all day because of the price of the strollers, they will be uncomfortable, LOST, tripped over and by the end of the day miserable! Happiest Place on Earth.....I doubt they will think so.:sad2:

I am off to send my email to disney~

I guess I don't get your point then. Sorry. :confused3

Obviously ABBF is the way to go, but it's truly a pain to drag strollers around when they might not be needed. That's why so many people are angry about the stroller price increase. That and the fact that the increases are simply ridiculous.

ABBF is a great service, there's no doubt, but on another thread, I think someone mentioned that its just the hubris of Disney jacking up the prices of strollers who are used by their littlest fans, the children, the whole reason for Disney's existence at all. It's truly a smack in the face to the parents and the little tykes. A stroller "rental" simply has no justification for being that high. Screw that capitalistic "what the market will bear" crap -- what about the fact that it's just plain insane to ask someone to spend $31 on a stroller RENTAL. People are getting so used to be over-charged, but there does come a time when ENOUGH is a ENOUGH.

I totally agree with the above post too. It's no one's business if you want to rent a stroller for your 7 y/o and making a comment like that is out of line. But, see, lots of people are very outspoken and brave on the Internet, where they would not be if they were saying that to your face. I have a seven year old and I'm still considering renting her a stroller for Epcot, just for one day. It's a BIG BIG park and we tend to circle it over and over, by the second time around the World Showcase in the Florida heat, she gets hot and tired. Heck, I'm hot and tired. So, if she wants a stroller, she still at an age where she can get one.

When she's 13, she's on her own! :rotfl:

You know, I have seen this mentioned on several threads recently. Using the logic that Disney raised the price of the stroller rental in an effort to limit people renting the strollers..... Couldn't the same be said when they raise the price of the admission tickets?:lmao: Does that mean Disney wants people to stop coming to the parks?:confused3

We have a sit n stand stroller. That way my youngest can sit in the front and be reclined if he falls asleep and my oldest can climb on and sit on the bench if he gets tired of walking and climb back off when he wants. It worked great out last trip and we will be taking it this time too. My oldest son is petite though (he has Down syndrome) so that might not work for everybody because of weight limits and everything.

Well then if you (not you personally, just in general) plan to get a stroller for your 10 year old quit whining about the price.

There has to be 20 threads in almost every forum about people whining about the stroller prices. Do you really think your emails are going to cause Disney to lower stroller prices? Yea right.

Like I said in another post its your $31.00 a day , not mine. I have better things to spend my money on then a stroller. My 4 yo and 9 yo will be walking, and have been before the price increase. If they are that tired that they can't walk, especially the 9 yo. Then its time to take a breather or go back to the hotel.

The price hike is absurd, and everyone is entitled to whine about it long and hard. Just like everyone is entitled to stop reading the stroller threads if they're tired of the whining.;)
