Stroller Rental

Hi Folks,

I am in charge of a nine member family vacation in September. My question is this: I need to find out if there are wagons to rent to transport 4 and 9 year old little girls around the parks. If not, what are our options? Are the strollers big enough for little girls this age or should we try to fly down with a wagon? I hate the idea of getting up at the crack of dawn only to stand in line to rent a stroller.

You cannot use wagons in the parks because they aren't allowed. They are too hard to control in crowded situations. There are double strollers and single strollers available for rent. I don't know if they frequently run out of the doubles, but I'm possitive you can rent a single almost any time of day. As for whether your kids will fit or not, that depends on the size of the children. 9 years old is pretty old, so she may not fit unless she's small. You may want to bring your own stroller if she has to have one.

My "big for his age" six year old fit fine in January. Definitely better than trying to drag him through the parks when he was tired. Good luck.

Hi Briane and welcome to the Dis! On our trip last November we rented a single for our 4yo DD on the first day, and every day after that rented a double so that our 7yo DS could ride on occasion, too. DS is tall for his age (I think he was about 53" then) and slim, and had no trouble fitting into the double. Singles cost $7 and doubles cost $13 for the day and you get a $1 refund when you return the stroller.

Stroller rental lines were often non-existent, and at most had about 6 families waiting, but the line moves very quickly. You are much more likely to encounter lines when you try to return the stroller at the end of the day, if you're leaving at park closing. However, if you simply park the stroller near the rental area, there's no reason to wait in line. Just hold on to your receipt, and you can get your $1 back the next day when you get your next stroller rental at any of the Disney theme parks.

HI, we were at WDW over Easter Break and rented double strollers everyday. We left the parks mid-morning for a break and returned in the afternoon, never had a problem renting a stroller. Only waited in one line and it moved so quickly we were ready to go in about 5 - 10 minutes!! Don't bring anything extra with you!!!

We brought down a stroller that unfortunately broke and we had to eventually rent another. We needed a double stroller for our 1and 3 year old sons, and honestly don't like the double strollers at the parks. As we were staying at the Boardwalk, the front desk referred me to a rental stroller company called All About Kids. I called them up late on a Saturday afternoon, and they said that they would have a stroller there for me by Sunday morning at 8:00am. It was a fine double stroller by Graco ...a side by side........in fine condition....
the rental amount for seven days of use was 40.00 and the delivery fee for drop off and pick up was 19.00. I thought that was very reasonable......59.00 for a week's use to avoid the hassle of doing it at the parks.

I would consider bringing something soft for the young ones to sit on. The ones we saw were made of hard plastic and would definitely get uncomfortable after a few hours. A blanket, towel, whatever but just thought you might want to know that.

At AK, depending on crowds, we do run out of double strollers by around noon. So keep that in mind. If we run out of doubles, we can offer 2 singles, it ends up being the same price as a double. I'm not sure about the other parks, it all depends on the # of strollers they have!

We were there in Nov. with 5 yr old daughter and 9yr old son towards the middle of our stay we rented the double stroller. They were great! I thought they were easy to steer and push. The stroller saved my sanity with my 9yr old he would get tired and miserable and this allowed him to take a break in there. My husband has long legs and set a fast pace so this was the only way we were able to keep up! When I asked my boy if he felt self consious in the stroller, he told me he would never see any of those people again and he needed the break, so he didn't care what anyone thought. Can't get any clearer than that! After he was in there I would notice other kids as big or bigger hitching rides also. What ever makes the trip go smoother and easier for you is the best way. When we were there in June last year MK ran out of double strollers by late morning.
The strollers at Epcot were small metal framed things that even my 4 yo had trouble getting into! Does anyone know if these have been changed yet?
