Stroller rental - older child

I plan to bring our Eddie Bauer stroller for my 3 year old ds. But as I think about my 7 year old ds, I think about him feeling exhausted and wanting to sit down. Is it silly to think of getting a stroller for my 7 year old. I know he's old enough to walk, but will he want to ride in a stroller some of the time? Enough to rent one? Anyone do this for their 7 year old?

Our oldest has been walking since she was 5. We go 3-4 days at a time and she has been fine. Of course, it all depends on the child.

I rented a stroller up until by son was 6. I say that if it makes your visit easier, go for it.

Have you ever looked at the sit & stand strollers. They are really nice for older kids and then you only have 1 stroller to deal with. We bought ours off craigslist for a good deal. You can search a website for sit & stand stroller to see the models. We have a Joovy but Baby Trend also makes them.

Mine was 8 last year and used one. Of course she got really sick so it helped to have it! I HATE having to listen to whining at the end of the day AND I enjoy pushing and having a stroller. It carries our water bottles, lunches and packages Go for it I say!! But I'm a stroller lover...hehehehehe!

I've heard of people renting a wheelchair (wide enough and big enough for two little ones).

How much are stolles now? We can get 50% off with the Disney Visa, but I think it'll be nice to hav our own for the airport and downtown disney/walk to Goofy's.

My 7 year old has been out of a stroller since she was 2. And she used one at DL, we were there for 6 days and by day 3 she wanted to sit in her sister's stroller. We did spend all day in the parks, no midday hotel break. And she is usually a very active kid, I was surprised (shocked) that she wanted to use a stroller.

I would play it by ear and see how it goes. My girls are 7 and 6 and neither used a stroller this year at WDW. I don't suppect next year at 8 and 7 they will either. I would just by a cheap one at Walmart if you do plan on using one and then just leave it behind.

Be cautious of doing this....CM's will assume someone in the wheelchair is handicapped and will direct you to the special entrance for handicapped folks only.

For those of us who actually need this special entrance/assistance please be kind and don't take advantage of this unless you really need it!

The wheelchair is a great idea, just be sure to leave it parked outside the rides like you would with your stroller!

I always have stroller for the older one. It's a lot of walking and they poop out. (he's 11 now, not at this point) but when he was 7 8 yes. Plus I can pile all the junk in it.

If you think he will need it, then yes. Personally I would much rather push my DD around in a stroller for a short time than have her be too tired to walk. And there is no way I could carry her.

Don't worry about what others may think. I don't.

They main time my ODD would appreciate a stroller is the walk back to the hotel but you cannot take Disney strollers with your for this purpose. I'd take advantage of breaks in the afternoon and forgo the stroller.

DD hasn't used a stroller except for at Disney for the past 4 years, we didn't have it with us for our most recent trip *Dec. 2009* it was a short trip and the weather was cool. I'll probably bring it for her B~day trip this July, it'll be hot and we'll have long days, I won't rent because I'm cheap and I'll want it for the walk from and to our hotel ~ DD's Disney stroller is a Mac Volo.

Does anyone know how much a double stroller is? We have a sit & stand stroller at home, but dh doesn't want to hassle with bringing it for some reason. I am going to try to talk him into it since we don't have to deal with getting on and off buses with it (like at WDW).

DL only has single strollers....no doubles like WDW

Yes, do try. The biggest time where a stroller is important, especially with your little ones, is the way to (for us, at least...DS dawdles and I want to get there fast so it becomes a racecar, LOL) and from the hotel. And rentals don't give you a stroller for those times.

I traveled with DS separate from DH to Disneyland once...DH urged me to NOT take the stroller b/c I had so much with me already. And I did. But then I got to CARRY my then 3 year old to and from the parks from Anabella, and it took probably 2 years for my hips to recover from that (seriously...and that's WITH chiropractic care). I do still carry him around the house sometimes, and at the parks I'll hold him at my hip for fireworks, but brisk walks to the parks and exhausted walks from the parks, carrying a heavy 3 year old...ugh.

Since you'll have the two...definitely talk him into it.



OP, I'd play it by ear. There's a *possibility* of them running out of rentals, but I've actually never seen the rental places closed. If he needs one, get one. Just remind him that he'll be walking back to the hotel or parking lot...
