Stroller Rental - Length of Stay

Can anybody explain how the Length of Stay Stroller Rental operates?

Daily Price is $15 ($31 for Double) - Length of Stay Daily Rental is $13 ($27).

Why is double more than twice the price? You'd think it would be less than that. Surely after the first few rentals these strollers are "paid-off" and after that its all profit ?

What I don't understand is do you pay $13 every day you visit a Disney Park, or if your staying at WDW for say 14 days (14 * $13 = $182). If its the latter, is it worth it since most people won't spend all 14 days at WDW. 12 days would be (12 * $15 = $180). So already cheaper.

I understand there may be some queuing benefit. How does that work ?

Can somebody clarify how this all works.

Many thanks.

I'm not sure I'd bother renting one-they are very large to negotiate-not really suitable for a child under 1 year of age. Also you rent at park gates-it can be quite a journey from car-park to gate etc. I'd probably just take an umbrella fold stroller- depending on age of child (one that reclines), you could use whilst shopping/airport etc also then.

But that's just my opinion-I'm sure some-one that has more experience will advise you further-I've never actually used one.

They showed a great one on The Apprentice last week-folds down to the size of a small suitcase-which fits in hand luggage. Now if I still needed one I'd look into it -cost about £100 I believe-mind you mine are now 14 & 16 so they may be a bit big:rotfl2:

We will need a double for a 4 & 6 year old. The issue is that they will obviously want to walk much of the time. Its for those times when they want to rest. Virtually all the advice appears to be that certainly a four year old and highly probably a six year old will need to use it at some stage during the day. A single may do the job; hard to judge if they could do their "I'm tired" moments at different times. I doubt it unfortunately.

At most parks we'd probably park it up somewhere central (e.g. near he castle at MK) and go and collect it when necessary. Also a good place to store spare clothes, wet wipes etc. If somebody really wants to nick our clothes etc, so be it. We wouldn't leave anything valuable.

To be honest its a lot of money for what we'd use. However, I don't want to be taking our own stroller into every park, that would be a pain.

I thought the Apprentice Buggy was great too. I think it was actually about £135, unless ofcourse you went to their competitors next door, where it was only £100 !!!

i think you would be better off buying a cheap stroller here and taking that with you, the kids can share easily (10 mins each) it will save a chunk of cash and i personally think the wdw strollers are not comfy at all !!

:)

We bought a nice little stroller from Wallmart for $34, there were cheaper ones but $34 is nothing compared to renting and was really good.

They also sell strollers in some of the shops in the park for about $60. I wouldn't dream of renting one at $15 a day.

cant really help with your question bout length of stay rentals but can say that we have just visited with a 3 yr old and a 6 yr old and we managed fine with just 1 buggy which we pushed round with us !! The 6 yr old got in whenever his legs hurt and my 3 yr old was more than happy to let him have it and be free for a bit :rotfl2: 1 night he fell asleep in it and we did have to carry dd back to the car but it wa sjust the one occasion and im glad we never bought a double as 6 yr old was rarely in need of a sit down!! I honestly think he would have struggled to fit in a rental one and he is quite a small 6 yr old !!
I obviously dont know youre children but if you have a buggy id say save your money and take your own as both of mine were very rarely in the buggy and it was just a trolley for all our stuff !!

What dates are you going?

I'm part of a stroller swap on these boards. I was one of the first to join so paid £20 (which is still a bargain for a much better double stroller than the ones in the parks for my whole stay, plus all the accessories you'll need), but now it's free to join!

I would agree with taking a single buggy from home, a 6 year old should be fine most of the time with rest stops(stopping for a drink, watch a show, lunch etc if they need a rest).

Hi,

Can't help re the Length of Stay Stroller Rental I'm afraid...

But just to say that we went to WDW in Feb this year with a 5yo and a 3yo. I too was undecided as to what to do re. using strollers. I knew that our youngest would definately need one but I had hoped we could manage with the one and give them turns.....

The thought of carrying 2 strollers on and off the trams to the parks etc just seemed like such a pain.......

We tried every variation whilst away, taking one stroller for our youngest, taking two strollers and hiring a double stroller.

Taking one stroller didn't work as as soon as DD1 saw DD2 in the stroller she would begin to complain that she was tired :rolleyes1 and so DD2 would end up on DH's shoulders and our eldest in the stroller!!!

We did not realise the cost of hiring a double stroller and so although the girls loved it, it was way too expensive.

And so most days we took the two strollers. We pushed them empty a lot of the time and although I thought it would be a real pain, it worked well for us.......

For our next trip I think I would probably not take our own but buy two really cheap strollers from a supermarket on our arrival.....

We bought each time, a stroller from the supermarkets.
Was fine for the times our little 'un was not walking and was tired, but rather like dummies, we encouraged him to do without as soon as possible.

Very useful Ali.

I certainly can envisage the "conflict" scenario when both want to ride at the same time.

A couple of questions if you don't mind. Would you consider taking your own Double Stroller if it was relatively compact? There are some that fold more conveniently than my singles.

If I read your post correctly, it appears you hired a Double Stroller on one occasion. Taking cost totally out of the equation (assume they are free) did you find them convenient and comfortable (for you and the girls)? If they were free was a hired Double Stroller a better or worse choice than using your two single Strollers? Was having two single strollers when leaving the park more useful than having to leave a hired Double Stroller at the exit.

Where I'm coming from here is that I'd much prefer to pay for the daily hire of a Double Stroller in preference to paying for Premium Economy Flights.

Would really appreciate your views on this. If anybody else would like to comment on these specific points please also feel welcome to do so.

Blimey, here goes....

I know we are all different and have different priorities but there is no way I would sacrifice PE flights for the double stroller hire...... each to their own :thumbsup2

Yes, we did hire a double stroller for one day. Very easy to handle, we enjoyed hiring it and the girls thought it was FAB :thumbsup2 but we were there in Feb which is pretty quiet so only a short-ish queue to get one and I can imagine that if you were there at a busier time of year, you might be queuing (sp?) for some time and it might be a bit tricky trying to get through the crowds and shops with it :confused3 Also I have to say that it didn't look at all comfortable to me but as I say the girls loved it.

The day that we hired the double stroller the girls spend most of the day in it due to the 'novelty factor' whereas when we had our two singles it encouraged them to walk a lot more which was good.....

If you have a DH anything like mine, once we are leaving the parks, he suddenly snaps into 'military mode' :rotfl: and so having the strollers to get back to the car was a bonus as the girls would not have kept up the pace after a long day :rotfl:....

We have a Mclaren double stroller at home which we only used on the odd occasion when the girls were really small, wouldn't like the idea of lugging that thing around the airport/parks etc it weighs a ton and even heavier with the two princess: in it :scared1: so that was a definate no go for us.....

So in a nutshell, I personally wouldn't sacrifice the PE flights for the stroller hire but if the stroller hire was free, I still think I would stick with two singles - plenty of room to stick clothing, drinks and non-valuable items, sharing the load :lmao: rather than having the two of them in one stroller, easier to get in and out of the parks 'military style' :rotfl: and then we also had the use of them if we were spending the day shopping around the malls etc and also bear in mind that we found that towards the end of the holiday when they were getting worn out we found that we used the strollers at times when I wouldn't have thought they would be neccesary ie shopping etc....

Hope this babble helps in some way :rotfl2:
